So I letterbombed my buddies wii, no problem. He was on system menu 4.3U and I'm guessing Nintendo put out another update since then because he called me up telling me he updated and homebrew was gone... so my question is, if I were to letterbomb it again, is there a chance of it bricking the wii? I'm assuming not, just want a second opinion.

If he chose to Update the system in the system settings, it would detect the different IOS's and wipe them out. A disc update may have detected something as well. That's my assumption as to what happened.
