lol...that's sorta sad. it's technically the solder coupled with the gap. I thought the biggest issue with the phat 360 was that the fan is far enough that it needs a fan tunnel/shroud instead of being right on top of it, then it's boxed in with the dvd drive, which I read in a report by the engineering team, had been forgotten about when creating the cooling system. not all of the heat is pushed out, some goes through that gap and circulates around the heat sinks or stays around that location causing the system to get even hotter.
