Long time no post! I disappeared for a while there...

I'm back, and now I just want to get my Wii able to play backups of my games via a USB drive. I've got a 320GB, I just need to format it... I'm going to follow to these instructions unless someone tells me they're outdated. A few questions:

- How much space should I leave in the FAT32 partition? It's a 320GB drive.
- Is it still recommended to have a WFBS partition, or should I just go 100% FAT32?

I'm going to try getting this done later today. BTW, the only things I've done since my last post was:

- played Super Mario Galaxy 2 and New Super Mario Bros. Wii via Gecko OS - installed the required .wad files when prompted

Speaking of which, ever since I installed the .wad files from SMG2, I haven't been able to boot discs through the disc menu. I can only boot discs via Gecko OS now. Anyone know why that is?

Thanks much for any advice, especially regarding backing up my Wii games to a USB drive!

P.S.: Looks like I forgot to post that SysCheck log. I'll do that.

Just go with 100% fat32, there is no downside with it for the average user.

Easiest way to mod a Wii is by using modmii.

Backing up games to USB is just a few clicks in your USB loader.

Seriously? Not gonna just make a new thread... Nothing wrong with it I guess so here goes

-Using the System Update from the Wii itself will update you to 4.3 and remove your softmod
-You can update to 4.3 and not lose your softmod by using Modmii (it's stickied in this section)
-If you updated using the System Update feature of the Wii then you can easily softmod your wii again using Modmii (uses wilbrand/letterbomb)

-It is safe to transfer your purchased Virtual Console games and save data to your WiiU even though it is hacked. You'll have to have the latest shop channel in order to do so as well as some updated IOS files.
-You could make a NAND backup, transfer, and then restore to have the VC games on both systems (but you wouldn't be able to download them from the store again on the original Wii)

-Use Modmii to hack your friend's wii

You could, or you could just use NUS downloader to DL the ISO's and pack them into WAD's for you, and then dl and install System Menu 4.1u instaed of 4.3u (but make damn sure you download and install IOS60 v6174 before you install sysmenu 4.1! the other version is a stub, you need IOS60 v6174 for system menu 4.1). Pretty simple really. But if I were you I'd start with 1. dl and install IOS58 (dl with NUS Downloader), 2. dl and run hackmii installer v1.2 - install HBC and bootmii (HBC will run on IOS58). Hopefully you can install bootmii as boot2, if not IOS.

I just tried using ModMii to download the necessary files to hack my friend's Wii, but 47 of 57 files were missing. :/

Note: Didn't mean to quadruple-post! My internet was being weird and slow for a minute there.

You're making it seem much harder than it is. I hacked a fresh Wii the other day, here's the "before" - after HBC & Bootmii installed using letter-bomb, but besides that it's a "virgin" 4.3:

MIOS v10 (DIOS MIOS 2.6.1+)

Report generated on 2013/08/29.
First I installed d2x v8 using the d2x cios installer. Then, I loaded up Any Title Deleter MOD and removed all the stub IOS's. You don't need to do this. Next, I loaded up WAD Manager and installed IOS36 (early revision), IOS60 and System Menu v450 (4.1E). Then I installed priiloader. Then I loaded up Any Title Deleter MOD again, and removed IOS80. You can also skip these steps if you don't want to downgrade to 4.1 (and FYI you need 4.1U and not the version I used if you go this route).

Here's a simple step-by-step based on your friend's wii.

1. Run Hackmii installer and install the latest HBC, also install BootMii as boot2. There's no need to have it installed as IOS on that system, so you can opt to remove the IOS (IOS254).
2. Make NAND backup.
3. Load Any Title Deleter MOD and remove: IOS4, IOS10, IOS11, IOS16, IOS20, IOS30, IOS40, IOS50, IOS51, IOS52, IOS60, IOS70. The official 4.3 update replaces all these with stub's, so you may as well remove them.
4. You can optionally install early revision of IOS36, however you do have cIOS236 installed.

Your Wii, you are missing a bunch of IOS's which is why you can't run games that need them. You also don't even have cIOS249/cIOS250 installed.

1. Using NUS Downloader download and pack wad's for your missing IOS's: IOS38, IOS41*, IOS43*, IOS45*, IOS46*, IOS48*, IOS57, IOS58, IOS60.
2. Using NUS Downloader download and pack wad for System Menu v449 (4.1U).
3. Put WAD's onto SD Card.
4. Load WAD Manager 1.7, use IOS236 or IOS248. Install IOS's - do not yet install system menu wad.
5. Load Hackmii Installer, install latest homebrew channel and install bootmii as boot2. You can uninstall the bootmii IOS as you don't need it if you have it as boot2.
6. Backup NAND.
7. Load WAD Manager, install System Menu WAD.
8. Install Priiloader.
9. Reboot into System Menu and test that it works.
10. Load Any Title Deleter MOD and remove: IOS4, IOS11, IOS20, IOS30.
11. Install latest d2x - v8 or v10. You can dl pre-packed WAD's if you want, and then install using Wad Manager (use IOS236).

*It is questionable whether you need these Korean IOS's, however they are included by Nintendo for some reason. I think it's safe to skip these ones if you want to.

Well, I can see that you've already updated the HBC. And installed IOS62 (something to do with the shop channel). I can't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to use devolution or wii64. Can you run other emulators - like snes9x gx?

Just install the newest cIOS and some IOS you don't have (that came with further updates) and you're good to go.

My friend just formatted his hacked Wii then proceed to update it, then hacked it again.
As for you IDK.

His friend's Wii is up to date with system IOS's. It also has d2x v8 on 249/250. We need a tad more info on what works and doesn't work, cause from the sys report it certainly looks like it should work well...

It seems to be running fine; CFG Loader Mod and Devolution are working perfectly so far with a new 1TB external hard drive. Wii64 1.1.1 and Super Mario War also work. Haven't tested anything else yet.

Should I update it any further, or is it good enough as-is?

I'll post the SysCheck of the first friend's Wii shortly. I think I'm finished with it - I ended up following the instructions from here:
