  • Badcatalex @ Badcatalex:

I even forced Windows 11 onto it and it runs perfectly despit
e having only a puny dual core i5 from the 7th gen of the core series
    +1
  • Badcatalex @ Badcatalex:
i also maxed the ram out to 24 Gb total and put in a 1TB NVMe ssd
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
If its one of those laptops with very limited storage like 32GB, then I'd prefer using an external disk drive.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
I resorted to getting a tower PC because I had a Lenovo PC that kept running out of storage due to the same thing.
  • Badcatalex @ Badcatalex:
it isn't, it has full ssd expandability over pcie... I think 3..0
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Mine sadly had one of those stupid eMMC thingies soldered to the mobo.
  • Badcatalex @ Badcatalex:
stock drive I had was a sata drive over the m.2 port, m key and 256 GB
    +1
  • Badcatalex @ Badcatalex:
it's an older computer but more than good enough for what I do
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
How old do you think it is?
  • Badcatalex @ Badcatalex:
the T470s is from 2017 and all signs point towards this laptop being made in or around early
    2018
    +1
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Not bad for a computer that age.
  • Badcatalex @ Badcatalex:
well it isn't a powerhouse but it ain't a slouch
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Previous PC I had was a HP microtower from 2012 running Win '10.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
An SSD and CPU upgrade ran it pretty well.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I own a powerful gaming PC.
  • Badcatalex @ Badcatalex:
it also has a dual battery system btw, kinda like other thinkpads but you have to open the machine to replace them
working on the insides of this laptop is really easy btw
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
I don't necessarily use it for gaming but it helps me to run virtual machines and other stuff.
  • Badcatalex @ Badcatalex:
    @SylverReZ ah
    okay and okay
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Badcatalex, I like the sound of that.
  • Badcatalex @ Badcatalex:
basically you just screw off the bottom and bam everything is fixable
    +1
  • Badcatalex @ Badcatalex:
    it also has an official
    hardware repair guide
  • Badcatalex @ Badcatalex:
    as all thinkpads do
  • Badcatalex @ Badcatalex:
as well as an official parts list
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    Even better.
    SylverReZ @ SylverReZ: Even better.
