Hacking HELP FOR A DUMMIE

I am trying my best to put cheats on my r4i but i am having no luck at all. if possible could someone spare the time to explain it to me in a very very simple way.

My problem: The DSL tells me that "There is no DS Card Inserted" and when i bower up my DSL with the R4i Gold in slot it goes "with screen of dead"
What might be a problem and i do not know if I have the right firewrame ?

EDITownloaded another firewrame now it is showing DS Card but when i want to enter it goes "with screen of dead"

It shows you a black screen when you power up the DS Lite with the R4i Gold inserted? There's nothing on either screen?

If so, then it's not a firmware problem. It's the entire Flash Cart. You will have to get a new one.

Could always try the paper trick.
Put a piece of paper on the label side of your cart as you insert it into the DS. If that works, you can slip a piece of paper into the shell, under the contacts, and then trim it to fit as a more permanent solution.

When i power it up(Auto Mode) i "Touch the Screen to continue" and then it remains then same color as "Touch the Screen to continue" was (up screen with down screen yellow) and there's nothing on either screen.

EDIT:in Manual Mode is goes to Main Menu.

The paper trick didnt work and if it is my Flash Cart problem, then what brand should I buy:
