By Gateway Mode you mean you can't even load up the exploit itself through the web browser, right?

I had it freeze up once and the bottom screen was nothing but artefacts (you normally see it for a few frames before the Gateway logo shows up, but if it freezes it stays there)
if you have an android phone i'd suggest Gateway GO! or Gateway Launcher v1.3 (APK is here on the forum somewhere)
that allows the exploit from your phone as a hotspot (disable your 4G though)
i currently use that and it works every time. and it works 100% of the time because it is your private little server, no strain from 1000nds of people trying to load from the server

just a FYI, if you get connection error.

go to internet settings with Wifi hotspot on your phone ON,
have your 3DS create a connection with your phone so it connects, name is usually AndroidAP.
have that be your ONLY connection, so not both your home wifi and androidAP

this will also prevent you from connecting to the internet on your SysNAND
you can set up regular wifi on your EmuNAND when that is working..
also make sure your mobile data is turned off, because it will not work if that is on
you know when it is on if the IP adress from the exploit starts with 10.xxx.xxx.xx etc
it must start with 192.xxx.xxx etc

tl;dr
make sure AndroidAP is your only connection on the 3DS sysnand and 4g is off

this is seriously weird. it should just load the exploit
you have GatewayRed inserted, on a fresh SD with launcher.dat
browser history and cookies cleared.
private server for the load.
sysnand on 7.x

so it should work. no exceptions.

My problem really seems unsolveable i think i have to swing with the sky3ds..

you could always try to get Smash and upgrade your SysNand to 8.x and try again
unless you did something strange like ejecting SD cards / gateway during updating there is no reason the exploit should not work.
updating emunand only affects emunand and not the sysnand.

you could always ask over at maxconsole, use pictures of before, during, and after trying to get gateway to load
