Hacking [Help] Cannot update from 11.0 to 11.1

Hi everyone,

So I had installed a9lh from Plailect guide for quite a long time, to the point I don't know why SafeA9LHINSTALLER is required in the current guide. Things went smoothly til 11.0. Now when I try to update to 11.1, the process bar just run a little and then boom! black screen and error message: An Error Occurred. Press and hold the POWER Button down until the system powers off.

I have searched the forum for similar issue, one post suggest update luma to the latest. I have changed from cake to Luma3ds as the first time installing a9lh I chose cake. Then I have updated Luma to the latest, still the error occurred.

Do you have tubehax DNS set? Have you installed a HOME Menu CIA?

No I don't have tubehax DNS. Yeah I installed CHMM2, but I have reset to the default theme. Is it required to uninstalled this CIA? Thanks.

Edit: Uninstalled CHMM didn't help..

CHMM doesn't matter nor themes set by it. Have you modified the power off screen or installed a language/clock/symbol mod to the home menu? Do you have a custom keyboard? Patched FIRMs, maybe? I'm really out of ideas other than these ones.

Maybe restore a nand backup and try again? If that doesn't work, CTRTransfer? I had a problem like this last night when I did A9LH on an o3ds. Except, I would get an error code when trying to update. Restoring a nand backup and updating gave the same error, so I did a CTRTransfer. However, your case is different than mine because while I got an error code, you got a black screen. Also, while I went from 2.1 to 4.2 (nand backup) to 11.1, you somehow ended up at 11.0.

I tried CTRTransfer and was able to update to 11.1. However I lost all the CIA I have installed. I restore the backup and everything is the same again (including being unable to update..). So my question now is how to show installed CIAs from the old SysNAND to the new SysNAND without having to install everything from scratch? Thanks!

Remove SD card, run the update, then put the SD card back in.

Without the SD card, the 3ds can't boot, so..

Btw, I suspect the time when I used badge backup from someone to have a full collection of badges. Does this in anyway cause any affect? Thanks.

It can with the latest A9LH v3, so update that first. Takes mere seconds.

Not v3, it's need SDless Build. A9LH v3 is not SDless yet.

Not officially, but someone has compiled it, and I can fully boot into stock firmware without my SD card, or into Luma CFW with it in.

I mean, you called it wrong. Since A9LH v3 is newer and come from nocfw branch with SHA hash.
Which reported to be prepare for using CFW from CTRNAND, and removed SDless option.
While SDless build is an experiment build on dev branch with some bug for playing DS cartridge.
A9LH v3 is not SDless one. People will get confuse and misunderstand if you call SDless A9LH as v3

If you get to 9.2 and your CIAs don't show, they'll probably show up once you're updated to 11.1. But really, CIAs showing are the least of your problems :/

I updated to 11.1 but they still didn't show.. Well, I installed a lot of CIAs so it's quite a hustle to do all over again

I'm still surprised there's no easy fix for this "disappearing cias" thing yet...

Same here, but it's uncommon from what I can see. I downloaded and installed SSB4 on my new A9LH 3DS and it disappeared! It wasn't in data management or anything! I reinstalled it and it worked, but it just vanished.

Same thing here hope its not my sd card as it only happens when I forget to boot into emunand

Hey guys, so I updated to 11.1 with the CIAs not showing up. Should I check the Data Management to see if anything triggers? Or just left it like that cause I read somewhere that this could cause them to disappear completely? Help is still need
