Hey now with the announcement of Dark Souls we get the next remaster on switch. But are they worth the money? I get that you can make a remaster of a ps3 game on the ps4, even if they could go the extra mile and upgrade the polygons too.

But porting that remaster to the switch? Can you really call that a remaster? The end result will probably look like the ps3 version... So it's a port not a remaster

dark souls is gonna run at a resolution of 1080p rather than the 720p OG version, on TV mode only ofcourse, also, seeing as how there is going to be a PC version, im guessing it has a major overhaul of fidelity, rather than just being a port of the PC version to consoles

I believe the main selling point of Dark Souls (and the Switch in general) is portability. There are plenty of other options for HD, so just pick one!

The switch is handheld mode is a little less powerful than the PS3. I imagine the game will run with similar graphics and performance in handheld mode as the PS3 version. That is quite impressive when you think of it, to be carrying around a near PS3 powered system in your hands.

In docked mode, the Switch is roughly 2x more powerful than the PS3. Most likely the game will just be bumped up to 1080P in docked mode with some minor texture improvements. It will still be a remaster of sorts, but the game will like look much better on the higher end systems.

Yes but portability aside. I am talking about the technical side of things. Let's take la noir or skyrim as example. They are both ports of recent ps4 remasters.

What did change on the switch compared to the original games on ps3

I'd love to see RE1, RE4, RE5 & RE6 HD Remasters on Switch too. Already have them on Xbox One X, But being able to play these in portable mode would be awesome!!! Im sure the switch could handle these HD Remasters & look great too if they put similar effort into porting as they did on RE Revelations 1&2.

well, LA noire is based on the superior PC version, so it runs and looks a hell of a lot better, as for skyrim, as you said, its the remastered version running on the FO4 engine, which changes the look of the game a lot

But first of all we need a RE2 remake... And the other missing ones

It's a remastered version being ported to several systems, I'm not sure why you're so hung up about this. The original version of Dark Souls would not have ran on Switch at all, it was far too unoptimized. The Switch version reportedly runs at 30 FPS in portable mode, which is something that PS3 couldn't even do as a stationary console.

If you care about performance and graphics, just spend all your money and buy both the Switch version and PC version like me.

I think if you played it on PC and they don't fix/change the second portion of the game involving the Bed of Chaos (aka remove them), then no.

Otherwise yes at the PS3/Xbox versions were terrible with ridiculous frame rate drops at Blight-town, they look awful by today's standards.

However if you have a graphics card of say a GTX 670 or above, then no as you will get a 1080p/60fps experience.

If you want to play it portably, there is only one option.

PS3 version had frame issues.. It will be fix for Switch/PS4/XBOX version. Oh boy. You like to gues dont you ? There is no proof so just wait until it is release. I understand that but I am not say anything and I dont want to guess at all. I just wait and test it for myself so I will know. Yes it is ported to PS4 and XBOX One too.. And yes, it is also remastered to improvement frame issues and resolutions.

Dont buy it if oyu dont want it. That's why. I am getting it because of PS3 issues that I was frustrated. I am happy that they are release it for Nintendo Switch, PS4, and XBOX one. :)
