I ordered a 2TB sata off Amazon to install in my wii, only to find out that it didn't have 512 byte sectors, meaning no dios mios/devo. Are there any 2TB satas the size of a wii disc drive that are known to have 512 byte sectors? If not, how about a 1.5?

Didn't need to make 2 threads about the same drive...

At first I thought you only had to format a drive and specify the byte sectors you want, but trying it for myself shows that my 3TB drives only support 4096 bytes and above, and only my 1TB drives support 512 bytes. As I have no drives inbetween, I can't say where the cutoff point is. I'm also a little too lazy to look it up on google or wiki where I'm sure the answer can be found.

When using separate USB enclosure, some will pass over 512e emulation while others will do native 4K.

Your best bet is to buy 1 TB external drive.

I found them in a forum discussing D-Link NAS enclosures. Someone was kind enough to post up some compatibility lists including the sector sizes.
