They also revealed a new improved version will be available after the holidays.
It's good they're making it right and issuing refunds without resistance.
Hopefully this improved version thing is true.
I did see that the Amazon listing has been pulled from sale, so it seems likely.

As far as I can tell, GuliKit has been absolutely silent on this and just keeps pushing people to buy them on Aliexpress instead now.

Still trying to understand what makes it happen and how to fix it, but I'm making videos and taking pictures.
On both of the sticks I have tested so far, the main cause was as described in this post by @Miranda07 , and the suggested DIY fix did work. However, since the seller has acknowledged the issues, hinted at a revised version, and refunds have been offered... these are hard to recommend right now.

I wanted to see exactly what happens when the stick is closed, so I attached it to a piece of plexiglass.

The upper white piece, instead of sliding smoothly left and right, is also being lifted up and down. Curiously, when the stick was assembled, the problem manifested only when moving the stick in the direction of the arrow (left), but with the piece of
plexiglass, it's possible to see the white piece jumping when it moves both ways.
When assembled, I believe the motion to the right would be "fixed" due to the white piece likely making contact with the sensor, and preventing the jump, making it tight.

That sensor is a flat black smd chip that sits on the top right corner (not visible in the video, as that part was removed for visibility).
 
I asked if I was required to ship them back. Response from Aknes: "Hello, it has been refunded. Defective products do not need to be returned. Thank you very much for your support!"

On my screen it show they are ready for me to package the bad joysticks up and actually send them back.

Wondering if you did something differently?

I read the post, but shaving it seems risky for such a small part and I'm afraid removing material may cause tolerances and ruin the stick's accuracy. I'll try some ideas tomorrow.

I didn't initiate a return - I contacted the seller/sent a message instead.

I certainly suspect there is a less destructive solution than what I suggested, perhaps adding something that prevents the lifting on the arm's larger side?

That's what I hope too. Making it tight so that it can only move left and right.

Nice, how about putting some piece at the top of that part to cause a bit more pressure on that leaver/hinge instead?

This is my next idea - a bigger piece, that put pressure on the whole area.

I'm thinking a very tiny bit of PTFE tape (either bunched up to fill that void in the slider, or between the slider and the top of the shell), might also be worth a try.

It's really not easy to deal with parts that size.

The top of the shell and the white part have grooves that fit each other, so I wanted to avoid putting anything in between.
