I'm pretty sure that the effect is supposed to happen, or at least it was in the original script. The effect is supposed to occur there, since Mia is sort of shocked (Oh!).

I've finished translating case 2. New patch here.

Please let me know about any loops or freezes/overflow problems.

Okay just made it to case two and already a problem
the graphic to chose case 2 is Japanese layered on top of the previous case
(Maybe you edited the Background layer instead of the front layer?

EDIT: Another Problem

When i loaded my save from case 2 I was near beginning in the basement of the lordly tailor building
And when the gumshoe "dick" as the girl wants to call him
Anyway when i load that save file I'm treated to a black screen of death
quoting EXaLD from SN:SCS2 "BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH"

And there is also some garbled "talk to" graphics

Set VBA to Sram 64K and rename this to the exact name of your rom name

The save actually works for me. Make sure to wait for it to load before pushing any buttons.

I noticed the multiple location error in this save, and after checking it from restarting the case, it still occurred, so I'll fix that now.

There are not always identifying marks to signal the ending of the line, though. Usually there is ], but some lines are extended with the ] occurring later. You would also have to make sure you don't remove

outside of the text boxes, as some

are used to signal the next box and some are used with locations and fullscreen text answers. There are also some

that will be missed since they have a wait after them (=xx) or some other text action.

I would just use an if statement to detect the characters at line end -3 ==

.

Then line 3546 would be removed Out of brackets and it's end of line

Hmm... to prevent it from erasing such things as erasing 3546, there could be a requirement that the first char of the line is [.

I haven't really done much on this because of school work and since it's a one-man project.
Where I'm at is still trying to get more memory for a graphic to load since the DS script is so big.

Is it still crashing when attempting to unlock Ms. Andrews' Psyche lock?
I loved playing case 1 of Gyakuten Saiban 3 on my Iphone and would LOVE to be able to finish case 2 as well

I'd like to try to help out on the project; I've been a long time fan of the Phoenix Wright games and I have some experience in programming.

I've never done any sort of gba ROM hacking though. Is cocomonk the one in charge of this project?

I think the main problem is that people are trying to substitute in text directly from the DS game when the translation to English for the DS version was most likely a different translation with, what is most likely, more substance. If anybody really wants to take over this project, they would do best to have a grasp on the Japanese language as to do a proper translation.

With such a text heavy game though, that would be one hell of a job. I don't foresee this getting done with the DS alternative so readily available.

Edit: Yeah, the whole idea is kinda old, but what I said still applies to anybody interested in picking this back up.

Well, I've studied Japanese for about a year or so but that's not really much

I'm Chinese though, so Kanji heavy games like PW are actually easier for me to work with.

Okay, I've figured out how most of the tools and the pointer stuff works so I should be able to fix overflow issues easily.

Also, I'm working with a friend on this and he came up with some brilliant insight on converting the PWSE files into CC3 files: use the control codes as separators. >.< can't believe I didn't think of that.

I'll be writing a PWSE to CC3 substituter tomorrow and hopefully, the automated translations should be playable-ish.
