Hacking Guitar Hero 5

managed to get running on uloader.

installed the wad
running rev 14
custom 4.1e
222/223 on 37+36
set vid to NTSC

not had any luck with USB GX yet. i tried it with sum settings but by time i figure it out am sure sumone more experienced on here will have already done it

USB Loader GX works for me. Sometimes it'll just black screen, but if you try again it'll work.

Just as long as you have all the requirements to run it.

IOS 223 with 37 Merged with 36, 002 fix, etc. I also have the latest version.

Yep, finally took the plunge and just tried uLoader. Works 100% fine. Someone should really just re-do the UI of uLoader. It seems to be the most compliant loader. fwiw, CfgUSBLdr didn't work either.

Here is a list of the wads included in the ISO (taken from the update.inf in the ISO):

Maybe it will help some people that need to use DOP-IOS to update.

It should be noted that to run from a backup disc (w/o a modchip).
You will need to use the multi-cios installer to install CIOS37 with IOS37.
You can install it where you like, you don't have to choose 232 (I chose IOS248, since it installs waninkoko's CIOS v7, AFAIK).
And then you will need to use SoftChip (this is rev 99) and select The IOS you installed CIOS37 with IOS37 to, for me it was IOS248.
I guess you need the 002 fix enabled, so do that also (I haven't tested to make sure it's actually needed).

TY to those who have posted solutions!

Ok here are the wads you need to update in DOP-IOS. If it is already updated, or higher, you will know. If it is a stub, DO NOT INSTALL (even though you shouldn't be able to).

Starting at the very beggninng of the IOS's, and go up to and including IOS35.

Some people also are updating IOS36, but then you need to trucha sign it, and I got this game to work without updating it.

Any more information please ask me.

And you still need to have IOS223 with IOS37 and 36 merged. You can do it again afterwards if you wish, but it's not required.

You have to load it in USB Loader GX, I could not get Configurable USB Loader to work for this one.

In USB Loader GX, make sure the settings are set to "IOS 223, Block Reloading IOS, Error 002 Fix On (not Anti, On).

I got this to work using system firmware 3.2U.

Ok...
I figured out where the 232 is coming from. I selected the 232 in Softchip and it does its thing...Loading app...stopping drive...Restarting drive, etc....and goes to load and.....

BLACK SCREEN !!!!

What in the world am I doing wrong here???

I have a 4.1U
softmodded with Bootmii 2 and Waninkoko's 249 rev 14
I have followed the instructions here...and nothing seems to work !!!

Can I get more help here fellas ???

Where in the blue hell is this IOS 232 coming from ????
I don't have that on my system !

multi-cios installer be sure to install cios37 with ios37. (you aren't required to install it to 232, I chose IOS248, just be sure to point SoftChip to the one you choose).

What ya mean use cios37 with ios37 ???

Currently selected to install custom IOS37 with IOS37 rev7 dip as IOSxxx
And in SoftChip select IOSxxx it should work.. (where IOSxxx == the IOS you chose to install as).
Check the update list I posted above against the IOS you have installed on your system. It might help to solve your problem.

Note: the multi-cios installer is kind of funky to use.
Use the D-pad to control what you are installing...
Left / Right on the D-pad chooses the IOS you are installing as in my case I chose IOS248 (left once).
Up / Down on the D-pad chooses the custom IOS and IOS rev7 dip (down 3 times will result in IOS37 with IOS37).

So to make is super easy:
  • Load the multi-cios installer using HBC.
  • Press LEFT once to select to install as IOS248.
  • Press DOWN three times to select to install custom IOS37 with IOS37 rev7 dip.
  • Press A to install.
  • Load SoftChip using HBC.
  • Press + to select to use IOS248.
  • Enable the 002 error patch (I verified this is required).
  • Press A to load game.
  • Rock out with your **** out!
I guess I should add that if you want DS link-ability you will need to have IOS56 installed, preferably the one that comes with the game (IOS56-64-v5146).
But people have reported it working on older versions of IOS56 as well.

YES YES YES !!!!!

It works....THANK YOU soooo much !!!!!

Havent read the past few pages to know if this has been posted but... I can confirm that the Rock Band 1 instruments work with GH5.
yay.gif
BTW using wiikey v1 and installed missing ios from gecko 1.9.2 and game loads perfect from disc channel.

My RB2 drums work with GH5. There is one glitch, if you hit the blue pad too lightly, it registers as a kick hit (orange). This never happens in RB2 so it's a GH5 glitch.

I got it running with 223 (the merged one)
game plays fine but sometimes during a song i get a lag like thing and and messes up the timing of the songs to the notes... its not like the iso is corrupted cuz i can play the song again and it plays fine but it some times randomly happens...

anyone having a this kind of issue?

thanks
