ROM Hack Grand Theft Auto Chinatown Wars AR code fix

Alright, Im just slightly confused here. Im trying to get this to work on an R4 with 1.18. Ive edited the cheat file with the AR code and patched the rom with a Arm7 fix, but it doesn't work.

To those who have gotten this to work, tell me what you did exactly, preferably step by step please

1. Do you have instant codes enabled? Because without instant codes it won't work.
2. You don't need to patch the game, just make sure the code is on and it should work without a patch.
3. Did you edit your cheat database yourself or did you use r4cce? Because if you did it yourself then you really should download r4cce and use that.
4. Make sure you add the game, and make sure the "Game on" option is enabled when adding a new game and that the game's ID is correct. (The ID can be found in the first post)
5. Once that's done add in the cheat code.
6. Finally save your database then play the game with that code enabled and the instant codes on. I would suggest getting a clean rom though.

Using the R4 cheat code editor, I added in the game code listed in this thread

I then used a clean rom and one modified with an arm7 patch

Both function, but for some reason codes never appear as an option when selecting them in the menu

Just in case I have not activated instant codes, How would I go about doing that, as I haven't ever seen that option before, unless it is the small option while selecting codes

1. loaded rom onto my r4's memory
2. pulled off its usrcheat file and ran it through the r4 cheat code editor
3. Added the game id found by searching for it using the rom itself
4. Added the code and saved the file
5. Returned the usrcheat file to my R4's memory

After loading up the r4, Chinatown wars is selectable, but cheats are not

hmm the thing from 1st post on this topic works for me with arm7, also with Wi-Fi. However I cant seem to connect to Rockstar Social Club...


Anyone here been able to link his FC to Rockstar's Social Club???
(edit: I first got a message in my interner browser that said that the FC was transfered from one account to another (which isnt true?!!!!) and that thus if I wanted to link the FC to the account I would hav to delete all my saves and start a new fresh file. I did so. Now when I try to sync on my DS I get the message:

Communication error. You have been disconnected from Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. For Help, visit support.nintendo.com.

Error Code 92040

and the support site sucks, also tried google but didnt find anything with 92040... I am feeling as if rockstar knows I used this cheat with arm7 and thus wont allow me to connect and play around with me, althou I doubt it. any solutions?

edit: sucks kinda. I cant connect to Wi-Fi anymore now. Not for syncing, not to look my friends rooster.
I just get that stupid error message. Tried to copy the .nds to my cart anew which didnt help.

If the cheats aren't showing up then when you are putting in the code one of the following is happening:

1. You're putting in the wrong code
2. You're using a wrong version (Maybe you're using a europe version?)
3. The ROM you downloaded was dumped incorrectly
4. When you're putting in the code it may be in the wrong game, also make sure the Game On/Game Enable option is checked when you have the GTA game selected in r4cce.

If there isn't an instant codes option then you're flash cart either doesn't support instant codes (which is bad, because it really should) or it automatically does instant codes.

What flashcart are you using?

Also if you don't know yet there has been a new massive cheat database update by curley, it may be best to just download on of his DBs.

well I did a little diggin on the web, and someone has created a patched GTA Chinatown file that works without a cheat needed. Ive been playing it for a bit and theres no slowdown, saving works fine, and everything seems to be in order.

I have a feeling the rom dump I used earlier was bad, but I found one that works, so Im happy

hmm would it maybe be possible to patch the social club content into the rom, without having to do any wi-fi connections? cuz this doesnt seem to work for me.

What about multicard multiplayer, does anyone has make it work?
I can play in the race mode for a couple of minutes and in the Survivor mode too but after a couple of minutes it will freeze, but all the other just freeze in the countdown to start the game.

Have you tried finding the European version's Game ID and using the code in the first post?

Yeah, I got the Pre-Patched rom works tottally fine but the Wi-Fi is blocked so Im a bit upset.

Though before that I tried the AR Code fix. I opened up R4CCE and got out my usrcheat.dat on my R4(No YSMenu) it was the March 20th usrcheat.dat I got from Narin. Anyways, I opened that up and found at least 3 Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars(U) folders since I didn't know which one I put the code in each of them. I popped it in my DS and enabled the cheat that appeared. I turned it on and went on GTA though it still didn't work. I have fixed the bug issue with my R4 with Yasu's r4bugfix that I came across on Narin's Cheat Compilation thread.

Though since I'm kinda noob with this stuff, I was hoping you guys can add this code on the usrcheat.dat and the others. I was really happy when I saw that there was a gamefix for DQ5 and Chrono Trigger. Lol, it seemed that my R4 had some sort of hope. Im kinda using these cheat files like firmware since R4 is dead. Right now im just praying that FFCC: Crystal Bearers is gonna work on my R4.

The cheat code in Narin's new DB should be called "Bypass Save Check!!!" and for me it was really close to the bottom.

NiNJUH if it isn't working make sure you have that cheat enabled and Instant Codes on (I'm not sure if the R4 automatically does instant codes or not).
