Duckduckgo has a mascot that is cute so I shall switch post haste. I was using the internet back round the ol' netscape/aol days so I don't need google holding my hand when I search something.

The data's kept in your google/gmail/whateverthefuck account if you stay logged in, too.

I mean you might as well have said "I have a product that fixes bad hair". That's not enough for people to go on. You didn't give a link or any additional information (not even the name), which is why he asked you for more information, so he could look at it.

I'm using both DuckDuckGo and Google because sometimes duckduckgo just displays weird first results not really related to what I really was searching for.

Well, been a couple days using ddg

1. I just don't know why all the results seems from old archive (for example searching for REVIEW from year 2012, but often get review older than this year)
2. no Images search, and/or end up using Google images.
3. Bad luck using it for searching NFSW content.

I have been using duckduckgo as a search engine for a while now and really don't have any issues with it as such. I actually primarily use it for its bang! functionality that lets you add things to the search like !img for google images, !wa for wolfram alpha, and even !mcwiki for the minecraft wiki. especially useful if you search using the url bar, I would still use it even if I really prefered google as a search engine because really adding !g to a search is not really hard to do.
I would also advice looking at the settings first before using it, disabling save search and setting your location to world traveler.

You are wrong. Hoorah your scripts remove the linkbacks to google (which can also be done just by copy and pasting) and the ad's. You're more anonymous than many, but Google can still track all your searches if it wants to. The point i was trying to establish is whether you actually are "cleverer than Google" or whether you just think you are. By all means revel in your filtered content and potential tracking.....just be aware that what you're doing doesn't make you impervious.

I'm desperately trying to convert out of Google but still find it impossibly hard because of the evolution time it's had....news, image and picture results integrated, an easy interface. But on seeing "the bubble", learning about filtering and IP demands, and just the general dominance of Google and their ability to do what they want, i'd much rather an alternative search was given the chance to "evolve" too. Metaphorically i'd rather not support a corrupt regime from behind closed doors.

Your scripts simply remove the linkback to google. That doesn't make you anonymous (and potentially leaves you bubbled, which isn't necessarily something you dislike but might be)

As for Google, i just think that the more anyone is prepared to put up with in the way Google picks the results you see, rather than YOU picking the results you see, seems like slavery to the system. By all means go on using Google, but unless we give the alternatives which aren't so "corporate" driven a try then we're letting Google make our choices. I like Google. I like the way it helps me. I DON'T like the idea that things i want to see are getting bumped out the way....it's MY choice.

Firstly, no it's not.....if you don't approve of the changes a company makes then you do something about it, not mindlessly go on using them to the compromise of your wishes. If some product i liked started incorporating kittens into it's ingredients i'd buy something else, rather than blindly go on eating my newly improved kitten blended food. You can show a company you don't approve of their decisions by doing something....

Secondly, getting clever about Proxies, which you completely avoided discussing up 'til now, is just a weak "get out of jail free card". Additionally something tells me that you're probably just picking random free ones which is hardly "My wings are like a shield of steel!"
