I recnetly put HBL on my 3DS and it had mGBA already installed. I tried it out but it ran awful. Is this is all currently available right now?

If you have an O3DS, your best bet is using VC injected games instead of emulators (even though Quicknes and picodrive for Retroarch runs at full speed and same with BlargSnes).

So I imagine there's no good GBA/GBC emulators for the 3DS yet then?

There's gameyob for GB/C emulation for the 3DS, it's pretty decent iirc.

For N3DS there are full speed ones but if you want it on O3DS you will need CFW to inject Virtual Console games.

Gameyob runs perfect in O3DS (GB/GBC Emulator) and you can install GBA VC games as .Cias.

Gameyob full speed GB/GBC on O3DS
Virtual Console injection fullspeed GBA on O3DS

Latest retroarch builds of gPSP run far better than mGBA, achieving 40-50 fps on my o3DS (granted: with CFW) which is more than enough to play anything that isn't Rhythm Heaven.

I'm kinda new to this stuff. but I downloaded an emulator and it came with an NDS file. I tried putting it on the root of my SD card with it's own folder path but it didn't seem to work.

Is this an emulator for flashcards only or something? I do have a DS flashcard so maybe it would work on there. But it be nice to just play it off redNAND.

You want CIA or 3DSX files, as you're not using a DS to emulate, are you?
Take literally two steps into the big Retroarch thread right on the first page of this subforum as most posters in this thread already recommended.

NDS are files to play on the old Nintendo DS(lite) that came out in 2004, not 3ds (which came out in 2010)
