Hi guys. I've been off the scene for some time and i'd like to update my Wii with all the latest mods...

My situation is this:

- Homebrew channel installed via Twilight Hack
- Bootmii v3
- cios38r17
- preloader v0.30r4 (by phpgeek)
- Firmware 4.2
- hermes cios 222 from uloader v3 (don't know the cios version though)
- USB cios (don't know the version nor how i installed it

)

So...what should I remove? what should I install?

wtf... another of these threads. Can we make a sticky "if you been out for to long, read this!"

Update homebrew channel, update bootmii.
Latest cIOS is rev18.
cios222 is rev5

If your stuff work, don't update.

Use priiloader instead of preloader.
In version 4.x (Not sure which) preloader can't go to HBC due to something Nintendo did.

You can install priiloader over top of preloader.
Also make sure to get the new hacks.ini for 4.2.

^^ your new best friend.

cIOS: you should stay at rev 17 of waninkoko's until all the loaders are updated to support rev 18. same with hermes; stay at v4, [in your case update to v4] until v5 is supported.

Homebrew Channel & Bootmii: update to .6 with the hackmii installer.

System menu: what are you on?

priiloader: you should update preloader.30r4 to priiloader

I'm on fw 4.2!

Do I need to do something before I update (like uninstall preloader before i install prii) or can I just overwrite everything?

On what IOS is it better to install the new cIOS rev18?

PS thanks for the link to CompleteSoftmodGuide, it' going to be my bible from now on

No. You can install priiloader over top of preloader. No need to uninstall preloader.
I did it on my Wii.

Use Rev17.

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
