Its stange that the only thing thats holding the gcw back, is that the the screen is small. If the screen was the same size as the vita, it will end the vita, even if the gcw wasn't competing with the vita.

What did I just read? If you mean that the GCW would remove the need for a PSVita, I've got some news for you. There have been a ton of (retro) gaming handhelds and not a single one of them has done anything to make Sony (or Nintendo for that matter) worried. It's mobile devices like smartphones that could challenge the handheld gaming market..

Provided the PSVita was hacked, it'd sh*t all over the GCW in terms of both specs and controls, no contest. Sorry to burst your bubble, bro.

And the resolution even works for filtering and PSHIRES.

The thing is the gcw is kinda like the hacked version of the vita. What you see on a gcw is mostly what your going to see on the vita when/if it gets fully hacked (emluation wise) the real diffence will be, that the vita will play its games in brighter color and the vita mostly can do gamecube emulation, but it well be really slow, like first daedlus emulator for psp slow.

In terms of homebrew and emulation, the PSVita will surpass anything we've seen so-far. It has the specs of a high-end contemporary smartphone/tablet and no heavyweigh OS to hinder its specs. It'll be nothing like the GCW. That, and its screen has a much higher resolution so no resizing or cropping will be required in emulators, resulting in a more genuine experience.

I also don't think it'll have enough juice for proper GC emulation, but the Dreamcast is well-within reach.

So by the look of the ps vita specs it will do this kind of emulation

1. N64 - full speed
2. Sega saurn - full speed
3. ds - full speed
4. dreamcast - 40 fps
5. Gamecube - 5 to 10 fps

Does that seem about right?

I would expect full speed Dreamcast and slower Sarurn to be honest - the oldie is more convoluted and hard to emulate.

Has Dreamcast emulation really come that far in the past few years? Hard for me to tell since I did a huge jump in PC power, but last I checked I couldn't even get stuff running on an Athlon 64 X2.
It's pretty sweet these days to be honest, nullDC was even ported to the PSP, albeit very buggy and slow. ;)

I think vita can run a sega sarun emulator at full speed just need the right coders, as for dreamcast the psp can run a dreamcast at 10-15, but that might have been test to prove that the dreamcast can run on psp just like how they did with ds and making those two emulators push the psp to its max, thats why I said 40 fps with dc on vita because it might push the vita to its max. I think the vita could do some dc games at full speed but as for larger games like power stones it might could only run 40 fps. I mean the only reason why gc emluation would work on the vita because of the vita's tri core prosscer.

I wouldn't mind a saturn emulator on Vita, I've been waiting for Saturn emulation on a handheld for quite some time for the Shmups and several other little known games. I definitely want a DC emulator for Shmups, some of the best ones are on the Saturn and DC.

Even if the GCW had all the same specs as the Vita, it would still lack commercial games and publicity. It wouldn't have a chance in hell at competing. I mean, the GCW won't run a single game you can't run on your <insert other recent handheld device or PC here> and that just isn't going to give the general public an incentive to buy it. Open source devices are a niche market, and that'll probably never change.
