We all know that a GC USB Loader is currently impossible because when a GC game is loaded the Wii essentially becomes a GC. When it does this it shuts out the Wii hardware as well, notably the USB port.

But couldn't we just use hardware inputs that the GC uses and mod them to act as USB ports? For instance couldn't someone mod a GC memory card so that it became a USB adapter? Obviously someone would have thought of this already and done this so I assume it must not work. Why (is this not possible)?

Similar yes, but why has this not been used to make a GC USB Loader? There has to be a reason.

EDIT: I was answering B-Blue.

Pakatus, that looks like an article on connecting GC controllers to PC instead of Wii in GC mode to HDD.

I read that topic (next time I'll search here instead of just Google) and the USB-Boot program seemed promising. I think if someone worked with the source code we could have a GC USB Loader working through USB Gecko. Too bad I can't code at all and it looks like the source code is unreachable.

I think the usb gecko loader needs to be started as gamecube homebrew. I haven't really tested it yet. And i heard it's really slow and it will always require a pc, because the usb gecko doesn't have its own usb controller.

About gamecube WODE...It's not an option to me, no audio streaming support => half of all games miss voices and/or music!

the WODE streaming audio issue isnt that big. its not every single game that uses streaming audio that doesnt work. its more like 10 or 15 games that stream audio that dont work.

Since the schematics are out, can't a controller be added to USB Gecko?

Of course. Or you can just take a WODE, as audio streaming would not be possible on that usb loader as well.

I just got a WODE for my son today, reading in the WODE forums it seems like only about 30 ish games from the 600 available have any bug at all about the audio streaming, and some of them it's only minor.
