I have quite a few GC backups here, since i have a modchipped GC and i'm always playing one or other game. I downloaded the GC Backup Launcher to simply test the system with my backups, but to my surprise, all of them outputted: Failed to read DVD 345

This is very strange since all of those backups run perfectly on my Gamecube. Anyone has an idea?

Check that you have cIOS 249 installed.

I have firmware 3.2U and no update or anything related to cIOS.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think that the loader needs cIOS 249 (ios36 rev7) to load backups.
Try installing it. You will find it in the "Thread of Loaders" sticky.
I use the Wiigator's one and everything run just fine (well, everything that is supposed to work

Who's cIOS249 are you using? WiiGator's or Waninkoko's? I think it was mentioned that WiiGator's 249 doesn't work with the installer, or causes issues, or I could just be imagining having read this. Try using Waninkoko's cIOS249 and see if anything changes.

Also... is your GC controller 3rd party, or a used Nintendo one? Post above yours mentions 3rd party controllers possibly having issues as well.

Well I resolved the issue by using the WAD MIOS installer. Much better and easier imo. Worked great on two Wii's so far that had the same issue.

BTW, I can't imagine its controller related but since I fixed it I no longer care. :-)

I just updated to Rev3, all went well!

BUT there are still so many games that crash when reaching the memory card screen. By this i mean before the main menu of a game comes up there is a screen normally asking u to create a save file or profile or whatever, or telling u there is no memory card in slot a-b. The error either comes right before that screen or after you click a button on that screen, It's the Disk Read Error.

To name a few......

Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 (NTSC)
Tony Hawks Pro Skater 4 (NTSC)
Starfox Assault (NTSC)
Midway Arcade Treasures 3 (NTSC)
Kirbys Air Ride (NTSC)
Animal Crossing (PAL)

I have tried all combinations of rebooter options and preloader RF settings. Does anybody know why this happens??

I am on a PAL console by the way. Softmii installed.

You do not need any region free options in preloader or starfall if you use the gamecube launcher or Gamma. Actally these settings mess up things very bad.

I have tried disabling the RF gamecube settings in preloader still no luck.
Hmm i did use the modded ARC with the starfall type hacks on.......maybe thats my problem......i will test.

Right ok I have just gone back to a virgin wii, well almost. I reinstalled my sysmenu 3.2e this time no starfall hacks at all, no CIOSCORP, no rf hacks on in preloader and still the same problem. Of all my backups that dont work most are NTSC and crash at the memory card screen.........

I have treid all three of waninkokos cMIOS revisions and wiigators one too and both loaders!!

Hopefully the next revision of cMIOS will correct this bug!!!!!

Damn! I was playing fine, but now i get failed to read dvd 345 anytime i put something in the gamecube backup launcher. I wonder what the problem is.

I think I have the cure to the fail to read DVD thing.

I HAD THAT AND NOW ALL GAMES WORK!!!

Follow these steps:

DOWNGRADE TO 3.2 IF YOU HAVE 3.4 or 3.3, 3.2 IS THE BEST FIRMWARE FOR HOMEBREW!!!

1) After downgrading, get the cios_ rev 7 from waninkoko's site, dont use WiiGators.
2) rename the file to boot.dol and drag the folder in the apps section of your sd card.
3) run the cIOS rev 7 on the homebrew channal
4) run the Mios installer
5) note, when I had 3.4 U it not only gave me a fail to read disc 345 but the mios installer failed to patch, so downgrading is VERY VERY VERY easy.

Ok, I have also spent the last...while, anyway reading this whole thread and there still doesn't seem to be a fix for the PAL games on a PAL console. I already have originals of most gamecube that I like and I'm only missing one or two. So far I have tested Simpsons Hit & Run - NTSC which was fine but, with Smash Bros. Melee PAL I get the same problem as a lot of other folk - no video but sound is there. (using component cables on a plasma btw). As it's a PAL game on a PAL console, I can't see what AnyRegion Changer would do but, since NTSC backups seem to work, I tried forcing NTSC video mode - still the same though. And I have obviously tried all options on the GCLoader for video modes. Any ideas anyone?

This didn't work for me. The black screen i get before the error read is a bit longer, but I still get a 'Gamedisk could not be read' error. I'm on firmware 3.2U, followed the steps, still nothing...

Ugh, having an annoying problem with Prince of Persia: WW. I put in on a multi-iso in the 2nd position with POP1 and 3. Thing is, sometimes it loads (by pressing A or Y, it's NTSC), but most of the time, it just hangs on a green screen. It randomly works but I don't know why, I originally thought it was because I had turned my Wii on its side.

I burned it once at 2x and another at 4x, and I still get the GSOD. However, POP1 and 3 don't have this problem at all. Thing is, they are both .iso's while POP2 is a .gcm.

Could it have anything to do with the game being a .gcm file?

Has anyone on PAL got Donkey Konga 2 to test? According to the compatibility chart it works fine but I've tried multiple ISO's and ALOT of disks including multi game and on it's own. I've tried it scrubbed and as full ISO but it's not working.

It get's through the Nintendo/Namco logo's then goes to load the main menu and hits out with 'an error has occurred ..blah blah blah' message.

Anyone else had any luck with it?

Are the saves working with your multi-disk? Because mine doesn't work with an official memory card.
