Homebrew Gauntlet DS

Trying to get this game to boot on my R4 card. I have no idea how ppl get past the anti piracy for this game and the r4menu offers only cheats. Could someone please explain to me what to do to get this running on my ds lite please? It freezes about a fifth of the way through the r4 loading screen every time.

Also every other game i have tried works fine.

I tried the US Rom (Prototype) on my "shitty" R4 clone (like our friend @Shadow#1 likes to say) with YSMenu on it and put it in an DS Lite and an DSi XL:



DSi XL:



DS Lite:



Maybe the Flashcard/its Kernel or Software prevents it from starting.
Or the Rom is corrupted and not ok.

I've tried the EU version of this game (I don't know for the US proto version but the EU version is 100% complete and playable in english) with an DSTwo+ and R4 Gold pro 2015 on my ds lite and it works fine, you can find it here : https://hiddenpalace.org/Gauntlet_(100%_Complete_Nintendo_DS_prototype)

Yes,the EU version works too.I have tried it also today,but of no reply of @Tones420

Not sure what the problem is. My r4 freezes every time i try the EU or us version. I have no idea what i could be doing wrong. I have like 25 games on my lite and they all work with no issues. I am using an R4 gold sdhc 2016.

Thank you for your reply and your detailed description of your issue.

Did you use/have the R4 Menu on your Card ?
As you see I have used the YSMenu and thats maybe the solution for your troubles.

Maybe the R4 Kernel/Software is "outdated".
This is also possible if you use YSMenu.

But all this is theory if your ROM is maybe corrupted or has issues.Did you try various ones ?

That is the version i am trying to use, i assume the problem is that my R4 card is a 2016 version, i tried to update but it says i need to upgrade my hardware so obviously they just want me to have to buy a new card.

I would like to try YS menu but dont know how to install/find that.

If these not work you can try

- the Folder "R4i-SDHC YSMenu"
- the Folder "DSONEi SDHC YSMenu"
(please also read the included "How to Install.txt")

You can also use for update the LATEST Cheatbase from DeadSkullzJr's Flashcart Cheat Databases:

If you use DeadSkullzJr cheat database, it might contain an AP patch for Gauntlet. Or you can ask in his thread before downloading if the latest version has it.

I'd also recommend posting the picture of the R4 card in the Retrogamefan thread, people might advise you which folder to use, so that you can save yourself some hassle.

Ok so i found out my card has a time bomb, i was doing research on how to fix it and found out YS menu is a solution by watching a youtube video, i followed the steps and got ys menu working. I figured i would test Gauntlet because people said that was the issue. Sure enough it works now with YS menu. THanks for all the help and advice.

P.s. Checked and timebomb is gone also now so i am set!
