I'm also having problems with freezing, but for Rune Factory 4. It's pretty annoying, not sure if I can find a fix.

Dsi games still need to wait until the next update in order to playthem.

Wording on their site is "we will try to get it working after the next firmware release.", so presumably the next update won't include DSiWare/GBA compatibility, but some release afterwards should do.

I know this maybe off topic but need help. trying to get online working on my 3ds and i think ive successfully done it because my 3ds recognizes mario kart 7 with the .3dz filename. My question is that it wants an update to run, can i accept this update with out updating my system firmware? I read that the update is to prevent shortcuts on certain courses i just wanna be 100% sure before i accept the update. thanks

yes you can, It's an update for the game. If you're that paranoid about it, close the game. run the eshop. type in "update" find the mario kart 1.1 update and install it then go back to your game.

assuming he has emunand set up and updated to 8.1 to access the eshop

I am facing random freezes while playing Lego The Movie in emunand after upgrading emunand to 8.1. No issues when using sysnand and no issues when using a fresh emunand 4.5. Beats me......
I am open for suggestions.......

P.S. using a 4Gb class 4 SD-Card / 32Gb class 10 microSD card

it really is still needed, its only been improved to also save if you press the power button

if the card is removed, battery runs flat or the 3ds crashes, the save will not be transferred and progress since the last time you exited will be lost

You know what, I misunderstood what was meant by home+X, because I don't use X to close games, I hit the option on the touchscreen. I thought he was saying something like holding home+X together or somesuch. My bad.

so basically the point is to close the game properly ?
or to close it using home + x ?
i'm kind of getting lost on this one.

To close a game properly you press home then X and you can shutdown the 3ds after. Don't shutdown directly to be sure your savegame is well written by the Gateway on the SD card.

I power down all the time without using home and x and have never had a problem. If you are afraid it isnt going to write properly leave it at the are you sure you want to power down thing for a few seconds. It is not a bad idea at all to use home and x but you dont have to for the game to save properly. Just dont pop out your gateway cart or let your 3ds die.

Hey guys, I'm trying to boot Classic Mode that's been updated to 8.1 on Gateway 2.3b, and it just gets stuck at a black screen after pressing X at the warning. Is not being able to boot 8.x firmware part of the "Limited Features" list?

I'm using the original 2 GB SD card that came with my 3DS.

you need to insert the gateway card to boot into 8.1 classic mode
