Was already discussed. It is a way for users to have the real GW. You can only use a 4.x emuNAND if you don't have a red card. Or a version less than 7.x if you extracted it before 8.x update.

I loaned my 3DS to my friend and now it won't boot up Gateway when I click on NDS Profile. I've updated the launcher.DAT (simply dragged the version 2.3 one over to overwrite the version 2.1 one) and it's still not booting up.
Can someone please tell me what I need to do to fix this?

My friend also connected the 3DS to the internet when I gave it to him so I have a feeling that he may have updated the EmuNAND (it was 4.5 before I gave it to him, just like SysNAND) by accident.

It's more likely he updated your sysnand.

check sysnand, if it's 4.5 or lower try running the exploit again using blue card. It's possible he played nds games or run nds profile inside emunand. Happened to me a few times.

edit: then again if that was the case you prolly wouldn't be able to run emunand.

see the GW3D at the begining ? it means it's emunand

NO GW3D at the begining means it's sysnand

If it's sysnand he updated you're screwed. Buy new console or reflash nand from backup. (i think it's possible ? dunno the details)

Lol. I know the difference between EmuNAND and SysNAND. xD

SysNAND is still 4.5.0, I am unable to check EmuNAND since Gateway won't boot up.

yep blue card :) if sysnand is 4.5 or lower and you can't get into emunand it's prolly cause of nds games or nds profile. Just run the exploit from blue card again and it'll work.

Assuming you didn't screw up your emunand while playing with sd card.. but then again that's not the problem since you'll still be able to get into gateway menu ;p

I ran the Blue Card setup again and it worked! Currently updating the emuNAND to the latest version. =D

Found my Gateway. Don't count me as a fanboy, but at least I can play Smash Bros. now.

EDIT: MY copy of Pokemon Y (One that I backed up using Gateway's firmware) won't boot on Gateway 2.3b. It just throws a Black Screen before even showing the "Nintendo 3DS" loading screen. Is there something I need to do to it to get it working? It worked fine on my R4.

well proper dumps work without a problem for me. The rule is that problem exists between keyboard and chair so you might wanna think about what you did that might caused it rather than saying it doesn't work it's hw fault.

Sorry, I can't think of any reason it wouldn't work. Like I said, it boots up perfectly fine on my R4 Gold Deluxe. I might go try to find a scene dump and just copy all of the data from my own cartridge to that.

Well to be honest i also have no idea. Trimmed file ? Damaged rom ? Badly formated micro sd card ? (i knew using windows format tool wasn't recommended but still ignored it and had trouble running some games.) Maybe something you need to do on r4 you don't do here? Or maybe gateway has some features r4 ignores and that's why it's more picky about roms. anyway just trying to give you some ideas before maybe someone more knowledgable comes.
