So I downloaded the 3DS Loader app on Android. However, when I disable 4G and WiFi and start the server, my phone tells me I cannot start a server because I don't have a mobile data connection. I will be out at sea this week with no Wifi or data, how can I load gateway?

just enable data connection, even if you dont have a signal it should still work....some handsets just want to assume the only use for wifi tethering is to share your mobile data connection.....which it kind of is for the most part

Same problem. Phone starts the mobile hotspot, but then says "no mobile data connection"

Really? I use it on an Android Phone having NO sim and it works perfectly. Let it start the hotspot itself, once you open that app, do nothing and it will open hotspot itself. Cheers!

yeah i think it depends on the phone/FW installed, some only really allow wifi hotspot as a mobile data tethering solution

Ok, hopefully this works. There's not way for me to test that right now since I'm still in the US and have a data connection. Thanks!

Maybe I will take out the SIM and try if I can't get it working.

What I never understood about this (I've done minimal testing) is how you get the 3DS to stay connected when the mobile data is turned off. Mine connects, says 'internet' on the top screen for a few seconds then realises it can't reach the internet, drops the connection and reverts to 'streetpass'

You don't need to disable your mobile data.....
He already said he is going out to sea and won't have mobile signal, that is why he was asking how to do it if he has no data connection.....but verizon have crippled the wifi tethering so he can't use it unless he checks in with them first......so unless he roots his phone to remove the blocks he will be unable to even use go gateway or any of the android apps as his phone won't let him activate wifi tethering unless he has a data connection

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    nvm it does support mine
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card

Slightly slower loading but a bit more convenient
