Obligatory screenshot of received goods, here we go. Thank you to Steven at DSFlashcart for providing me a Gateway 3DS unit. Greatly appreciated, and a review will be out within the next few weeks. :)

Anyways, just a few random tidbits about it. Sent via DHL Worldwide Express (2-3 day delivery), from China.

Impressions

Overall, the flashcart is built very durably. It's solid, and difficult to pry apart, which is nice. Mine had the stickers on them, which was a nice touch as well considering I heard that some people didn't even get stickers. :(

Installation

Installation is a breeze with the guide they included. For flashcart users who have other cartridges, such as the Supercard DSTwo, I can confirm that the installer works just the same on other chips. You are not entirely restricted to the blue R4i-esque chip alone.

Preparing the blue card is merely taking the .nds Gateway installer and putting it in the root of the SD. Following that, running the Gateway exploit is a very quick process, taking the Launcher.Dat update from 1.1a and throwing that on the big SD card in the 3DS. Go to settings, and navigate to the Nintendo DS Profile, cue exploit.

Loading games (I did this on my Mac) was easy as well. Navigate to the .3DS file, select your SD card in the list, and then hit flash. Quick, easy, and painless.

Games

Still testing, but I got Mario 3D Land and Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland working fine with no problems (BortzANATOR !!! :D). I'll be running more games within the next few weeks, mirroring and extending the testing that Devin did on his review, to confirm his results. I'm open to requests as well, but I'll be covering the major games. Games run at full speed, with no problems whatsoever.

-

Overall, I'm impressed with the cartridge, and I'm looking forward to what future versions can do for it.

Again, thanks to the folks at DSFlashcart, I'll have a review up for you guys soon!

Lol im feeling the peer pressure to buy a Gateway 3DS even though i don't have a 4.5 3DS yet. Prices are apparently raising though and stock seems limited, not to mention Nintendo will respond soon. Conflicted. If i buy one, it would go in my dresser drawer to collect dust while i find a spare 3DS. But if i do buy one and a better version comes out in the mean time Im screwed. Decisions, decisions.

Someone else will make a clone one with improvements, why waste money?

Someone will indeed make a clone and for less money, but given this is exploit-based and the team has so far added spoofing, multi-region support and is apparently working on NAND emulation, I'm not sure there's much room for improvement. The 3DS hasn't been cracked and we're already nearing the extent to which this particular exploit can likely take us. Given that, I'm not expecting cracked DLC or RTS to come of this, or even FAT32 support to facilitate multiple games per card.

People should be conscious that perhaps this is all we're going to get for some time until the 3DS is compromised in a more thorough way--which may never happen.

Sadly, the masses will always be screaming for more.

...I think the main point he was making is that a cheap clone will be released..."with improvements" or with sweet FA for improvements doesn't really matter if it's (and it will be) less than half the price...Assuming it does get cloned quickly.

...I just coughed up the money personally, I'm not a child so not really an issue.

Wait what, where? You lost me a bit. :P Original Gameboy Storage container...? I'm a little tired right now, but I have a few more hours of game testing to nail tonight. ;)

EDIT: OH. In the picture? Nope, it actually ended up in my packaging for the Gateway 3DS. It was a common method that the original R4 DS used to "protect" the unit.
So basically, my package was the unassembled box, and that storage unit with the black and white chip in there. I'm guessing it was used to save on shipping, because they did expedite a unit to me at no charge. :)

I was talking about the little thing you have the cards in, I used to have some a long time ago that were for original gameboy games to protect them from water, dirt and shit

Just like how we got a clone of CycloDS iEVO which can emulate DSi enhanced features right? :P

It was nicely presented, at least! I loved the tin box it came in. Although that thing had a short ass life span. :( Cyclo was also one of the very nice teams that liked overnighting their review units. How I will miss them... :(

Yesterday morning, LittleRedRidingH. I have got my tracking No. from them. My package is flying. .:D

Just checked the tracking on my dwtechz order - The item (RCxxxxxxxxxHK) arrived at its destination country on 28-Aug-2013.

sweet - hopefully today with any luck - which will be very fast compared to recent asian orders I've made

How are you tracking your order? Did you order via express or free shipping?

I've been using my tracking number RCXXXXXXXXXHK on http://17track.net/IndexEn.html and http://app3.hongkongpost.com/CGI/mt/enquiry.jsp but neither website
recognises it.

I emailed dwtechz.com and received the following reply.

Thanks for your letter.

Your item has been shipped out. But it takes some time for the post office to put all tracking information on their website.
You can track it one or two days later.

Thanks for your kind understanding.

For any questions, you are welcome to contact us.

Have a nice day!

Best regards,
Liz
