I can't play any of these games on my gba with ez-flash IV.

I can't play any of the super mario advance 2, 3, 4, lady sia, TMNT 1 and 2, Street fighter 2, scorpion king, super robot taisen 1 and 2, ninja five 0.

Anyone here can play any of these games with their ez-flash iv?

The mario games often do not save unless you put a 8.3 name for the game and the save (up to 8 characters for the name and three for the extension vs the 60 odd for the name you usually have)
I believe I played Lady Sia although I am not confident.
Turtles- I do recall doing something. Edit- found it http://gbatemp.net/topic/286505-ez-flash-iv-firmware-update-question/

SF2.... you want to play it. Never tried anything with it though.
Scorpion king- can't recall doing anything with it.
Super robot- worked fine whenever I did anything.
Ninja cop/ninja five o- worked fine again.

The usual advice is try 8.3 naming for the games, patch instead with GBATA - http://www.no-intro.org/tools.htm (remember to make a save for it as well- usually just copy, paste and rename another works) or

Also not using a microSD to miniSD adapter are you? They are often terrible and cause crashes and issues like this.

If I have some time later I will try the ones I am not sure about/have nothing on but no promises.

If i play a gba game and i want to play another gba, i usually turn on and turn off the gba sp system. Is there another way to go to main menu without having to restart gba sp?

with the 8.3 naming. So if the game is called super mario advanced 2. What name do i save it as? I understood the 8 part.

So i can name it advanced Since its 8 characters

And what name do i use as extention? I don't get the 3 part extention

You can try the soft reset options which should be available on the left hand side of the program- http://gbatemp.net/topic/332141-ez-flash-iv/ (covered later in that thread) but frankly I just flick the switch if I am on GBA hardware (or original DS for that matter). Either way you will probably be waiting for it to save and will probably still see the logo.

For the super mario games, you can't have long filenames. For example, super mario advance 2 would have to be sma2.gba etc. I'm not sure about the other games but it might apply to them too.

What operating system do you use to run gba games? For my NES games, i use ez4client which has pocketNESMenu.gba and it runs everything perfect, i can go to the main menu and it has a lof of features.

With my gba games, I don't have a menu or any features. i don't have an operating system that runs the gba games. All my games are in a File. Is there a program that i can use that is similar to pocketnesmenu.gba that i use for my gba games?

btw some games won't work on the ez-flash 4 unless you flash an auto-reset firmware on the cartridge which after a game is loaded the gba will reset and launch the game it may take a few seconds more before playing but you will be sure that every games will work

you could have done a search on filetrip http://filetrip.net/gba-downloads/clients-loaders-firmwares/download-ez-flash-iv-1720-reset-mother-3-skin-10-f24994.html it has a mother 3 theme but otherwise resets the gba when a game is loaded

thanks. Will this download solve the save issues with some of the gba games as well? Some games won't save for whatever reason.

save issues means the game is not save patched correctly in that case you need to patch the game again

i renamed all the games that didn't work and they still don't work. Maybe its the games that are bad or i need to add patches to make them work. So far i haven't added any patches yet, i am going to right now.

I was told before by kid ice that if the game doesn't work, try getting the game from another source to see if it works, i did that before and it worked. But the games that are not working right now, i have got them from two different places and they still dont work.

I tried to download mother 3. Where do i put put this file inside the gba sp? Do i need to use a zip drive to unzip it, or do i just download it straight into the gba sp?

I downloaded the mother 3 file. It see it in my gba sp, but the problem is it won't start. I see
24992-ezfla_up.bin in my gba, but i then click it and I see progression number goig up to 102 percent and then i message i get the message below

Waiting Save File/Saver/24994 ezfla-up

after that its practically frozen.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
