I have 4 Wavebird controllers in various states of disrepair that I would like to fix up. I figure I'll paint them all different colors so they can be easily used when I have my friends over, etc.

However, as I bought them secondhand, some of them are really fucked. I'm wondering if anyone here knows where I can find replacement analog sticks and buttons for them? They must be available somewhere now that Nintendo has brought the GCN controllers back from the dead.

Not sure what part of the button you mean but I imagine those will be harder to find. as for joysticks they are pretty much universal for all controllers as long as they are orientated the same. sites like sparkfun sell joysticks alone that should work. unless you mean the caps then those can be found on amazon.

Anytime you come across a suspicious file, a detected threat, suspect a file detection may be a possible false positive or you want a second opinion, submit it to one of the online services that analyzes suspicious files for possible malware.

I installed a Windows XP ISO onto a VM and used a fake product key, as does everybody else, so my best bet is that it's either a false positive or Windows XP having terrible security.
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
The product key generator could be tied to mailware like mentioned in the links

No, just found product keys in a list on archive.org

@K3Nv3, Cloud scanners often interpret machine learning to understand the inner workings of a program and checks to see if functionality compares to how malware operates. Hence why it's not always accurate and you get false positives such as W32.Wacatac.

It's interesting that the ISO came with the browser though, is it also pre-loaded with other stuff?

now, back to what I was doing last night: going insane because Firefox can't set the new tab page to your custom new tab page-- apparently as a security issue
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
Yes that was also mentioned in the links I posted
  • Kirbydogs @ Kirbydogs:
@ZucchiniMaiden No no, it was a blank install of XP, I installed the software afterwords lol

I would not recommend using a product key generator to generate keys, you can find em on the internet relatively easy. And as for Windows XP keys, a certain GitHub page has them. :P

Pirated copies of os can also be detected especially with torrent links

  • Kirbydogs @ Kirbydogs:
Is there a Firefox feature in like maybe about:config to change the new tab page to the home page?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Settings > Home > Change 'New Tabs' to anything.

"New Tabs" only has Firefox Home or Blank Page

@K3Nv3, There's the Windows Genuine Advantage that got implemented in SP3 if I remember which checked the license of your Windows installation to see if the key was either pirated or whether it's been activated.

It got a lot of controversy because it acted in a way like spyware, but really who cares, Microsoft likes to spy on you.
