u got the newest versions of the firmware installed?
did u have to put it in a GBA Phat case? u mighta put it in rong?
i dunno, ull have to talk to some of the advanced users

4. Boot your G6 Lite in GBA Mode.
5. When the disclaimer in green text appears, hold down A + B + Select + Start.
6. Select Yes.

But what will it do here? will it change my DSLite?

1. How is the file naming handled? If I were to give DS and GBA roms their own file name on my PC, then transfer to the G6, does it show up on the G6 menu?

I think my G6 lite is broken. It worked for a couple of days and now stopped working, I get the splash screen but the touch screen remains black forever. I formated it, used the recovery utility (low level format), etc and nada. I tried to upgrade/reinstall the firmware and once in GBA mode and after clicking the 'yes' I only get a '1' character on top of the 'yes' button and another '1' character down. It gets stuck.

Why am I so unlucky?

Make a thread about it on the G6 section or on the official m3/g6 forums, see if you can fix it.
It might be the contacts on the card being dirty or something.

Great FAQ, the only thing I feel is missing is alist om compatible ROM-types for the emulator. So far I've found that NES and GB works, however SNES and SMS doesn't. Does someone know something I don't?

NES = *.NES
GB = *.GB

As I said before in the FAQ, refer to the homebrew's documentation on its use upon G6. There is more and more homebrew appearing nowadays, including emulators. It is something that would require great amounts to compile, and emulation is not high on the priority list with me, as I have at least 4 flash cards to review (or giving a 2nd Opinion) here as well as the revised M3 Guides & FAQ coming soon. That has been delayed due to some personal issues as well as awaiting the M3 DS Simply en route to me. I'm also holding off any new additions to these Guides & FAQ until the G6 Lite 8GBit arrives sometime next month. Getting back on topic, most homebrew authors have an e-mail address or FAQ of their own to refer to. You might also try IRC. In my opinion, it is the responsibility of the authors in order to provide the necessary service and support for their works.

thanks for the faq i had alot of my questions ansered here
i cant wait to finally get mine in the mail sometime this week
thx again

Q: Will the Nintendo DS Browser work on G6 Lite?
A: Yes, if you own the DS-Xtreme or similar Slot-1 flash card along with the G6 Lite or similar Slot-2 flash card along with a patch file for the Nintendo DS Browser (Europe) ROM. Of course, it would be much simpler, not to mention cheaper, to use your retail version. Don't you own that?
This is not true. The patch only works on certain M3 and SC products.

I've seen that the battery can last about 9 hours. Is this when it's not on, or + the time when it's on. Since I'm going on a lon gplane trip, at least +15 hours, Will the G6 last?

That 9 hour figure is probably not tested in realistic circumstances. If you set the backlight to the lowest setting and remove the passcard* while you're playing, you might get close to 8 or 9 hours.

*You only need the passcard to get the G6 started, you can remove it once you are in the G6's menu. You cannot remove the passcard once a game is started.

Awww crap, I need the Pass Card to get it started? I thoght i only needed it to play.nds files. ><
Anyhow, when it does run out of battery power, does everything on it go away?

That 9 hour figure is referring to the DS battery, not the G6 battery. The G6's battery should last a hell of a lot longer than 9 hours on a charge(you charge it with the USB adapter), and even if the charge starts to drop, it only affects the saves; you can still play games.

"Hell of a long time" Can I please get that in hours/days?

I've also heard that it semi-charges when you play when the G6 is this true?

It never loses its charge for most people. Just plugging it into the USB port to transfer roms & saves will keep it from running dry most of the time, depending on how often and how long it's connected. If you give it a full charge (8 hours in the USB thingy) it should last at least a month without being charged again at all, assuming the battery is in good condition.

To be safe, you should probably charge it once a month for up to 8 hours, less if it spends a lot of time plugged into the PC day to day. I highly recommend that you do not leave it charging for much longer than 8 hours. Most batteries batteries do not deal well with overcharging.

I don't think so, but I don't have any solid info about that.

Cool, thanks for answering my questions without being annoyed. Big Thanks To you.

I've read that SNES Roms can be played on the G6. But I haven't got much info on it. Does the G6 use an Emulater or can it play SNES roms just like a .GBA file. And it can play .GBA files directly, can you tell me how?

Does it have SNES ROm compatiblilty problems? Like Missing sprites, Messed up sound, Blinking Text, etc.

SNES ROms I'd like to play.
Tales of Phantasia, The GBA remake was child-ish
Star Ocean,
Sheiken Dentetsu III
Megaman X 1,2,3,7, Soccer
Final Fantasy all

Do any of these have problems?
I'll beleive there is a god when these work 100%
