The FTP server starts and spits out a 192.168.1.*:21 IP address. FileZilla:
Code:
Status: Disconnected from server
Status: Connecting to 192.168.1.41:21...
Error: Connection timed out after 20 seconds of inactivity
Error: Could not connect to server
Status: Waiting to retry...
Status: Connecting to 192.168.1.41:21...
Error: Connection timed out after 20 seconds of inactivity
Error: Could not connect to server

Not even this variant of FTPii U works:

Yes, I already tried latest vanilla. On the other hand, this fork is too scary yet: https://github.com/Laf111/WiiUFtpServer/issues/24

Mii Maker Homebrew Launcher, none of that channel garbage.

FTPii U works just fine on my TIramisu WIi U, and I'm using "that channel garbage" not the Mii Maker Homebrew Launcher.

Maybe it only works on that channel garbage?
Guess I can't verify the other way, I removed the MIi Maker version immediately. It's possible I suppose. Not really sure what else would cause it. I would say maybe try another wifi connection? Can't explain it, but some Wii U homebrew functions work better when I connect to my phone as a mobile hotspot instead of my wifi via the router.

  • Make sure 192.168.1.41 is really the IP of your Wii U.
  • Make sure there is no firewall blocking the connection.
  • Make sure the Wii U and the PC are in the same network.

Check, check, and check. My router shows the Wii U as connected on that IP. Disabled firewall. Tried different computers, even one I don't own. There's only one network to be on.

This is probably a generic issue with Tiramisu somehow, because if you inspect the post I quoted, the Reddit user went to such lengths as to even build a custom version of the FTP server with some workaround.

I flashed my router with custom firmware for unrelated reasons, and now FTPii U "everywhere" works. My router must have had port blocking rules somewhere.

I don't know why the Reddit user was having problems, but the existing FTP server appears to work on Tiramisu. Hopefully this fork becomes decently stable someday: https://github.com/Laf111/WiiUFtpServer/issues/24

Maybe try an older version of wut if that's the problem.

That will make things worse. WUT had a lot of fixes lately, so you want to use latest WUT (git master).

Also it's more like CafeOS crashing instead of erroring out when you do just slight mistakes. Much of CafeOS secrets (how to do it correctly) simply wheren't known. So using dynamic libs instead of WUT also won't fix things.
