Is it just me or are the rock band spirites much prettier then the GH. So why don't you use them?

hmm I'm not going to read all 17 pages so... Has anyone suggested doing the Guitar Duels online? Or a ranking chart online, just throw something with 'online' and I'm happy, minus download it online from your CPU lol.

online duel, i think that wouldnt be too hard to make if wazmo can handle all the server stuffs etc.
there arent much data that need to be transmited between players while connecting anyway, I dont think

signal of attacking (fish move, flip screens etc.)
exchange of scores at the end of the game
Player names

though theres a problem with how easy players can edit songs and charts etc. allowing us to cheat

Hey, shithead! (just kidding, kuso=shit)
Well, don't worry about online for now, it may be a possibility but wazmo may add it later.

if we add online we shouldnt becuase:

A. its more things we have to do before the bounty

B. if we add online we have to add another thing to the menu and probably make 2 frets boards on the screen(not 100% sure about that) and if we do the notes are already small

C. if we add online to the game afteer the bounty the game will change enough probably to enter it again

heres a ds case that i through together inn about thifteen minutes so please comment and yes i know its small

you wouldn't need to see how they are doing, what you would need to do is have one user be the "master" and upload the song, have the other player download the song (frets, midi, etc.) then the server send a start signal, then when they're done they will hit the server with there scores then the server will send the "winning" ticket to the winner and the "losing" ticket to the other DS. Not all that hard to make as there is no "real-time" interaction needed. But A && B are good reassons... MONEY! lol.

I JUST THOUGHT OF SOMETHING!!!!

IF WE USE GHEX AND FoF WE CAN USE THE CHARTS TO COPY THEM INTO TEXT INSTEAD OF MAKING IT OFF THE TOP OF OUR HEAD BUT I WANNA KNOW WHAT WERE DOING FOR SUBSTAINED NOTES(EITHER A SPACE OR |)

ok get excited its time for a new demo!!!!! this demo shows the start of the note flow. its a bit glichy but dont forget this is a very early version of the note flow. Penguindefender this will give you an idea of the type of fretboard i want. the notes flow down the screen but nothing will happen if you strum them yet though.

i'm still not 100% sure how im gonna do the charts so i dont think that would work.

Not insulting, it kinda sucks. Just copy & pasting isn't good.

I've been following this from the beginning, and I have to say you all are doing an awesome job.

I just want to point out a glitch I've found.
If you strum fast and then stop strumming, it will still make the strumming noise when you press/hold down a button without strumming (as if you were doing HOs/POs), and won't stop until you strum again.

Keep up all the great work; It would be awesome if you won this bounty thing.

Hey guys! I made part of the menu!

Here is the title screen. Enjoy!
smile.gif

I used the same background as the guitar. That way there is a consistant theme throughout the game. Do you like it?

Also, what options should be present on the touch screen (start, options, etc.)?

I haven't tried the demo yet, but I'm going to right now.

SINGLE PLAYER
OPTIONS
CREDITS

That is all for now, you could add the you guys names to the credits. And link to the website to download a new version. Maybe a "Check for new version via Wi-Fi?" Might not though...

hey no offense or criticism of any kind to the spriters what so ever

but why is everything drawn pixel-ie? are we like bounded to use 8 bit coloured graphic or summat (do pardon me if I am not using the correct term)?
why hasnt anyone consider using photoshop or something like that? (plus isnt the boxart a little rough with that sort of "paint" level workart printed?)

again, no offense + no questioning spriters's abilities or what so ever. Just wondering

ok i kno this is off topic but if there is any homebrew that can compete with this is amplituDS

i also got another way of making note flow so if you want to kno just ask

@kusohead
In a way, we sort-of are bound to 8-bit pictures. I've noticed that the sprites I have drawn thus far have a poorer quality on the DS than what they look like on my PC. The DS just can't support the number of colors that I use. I also want you to know that paint is not a bad program at all. I have drawn every single sprite so far in paint and paint alone (excluding the multiplier. I used paint.net to do some of the shading
smile.gif
) . It is simple to use and perfect for small artwork. Please stop giving it a bad name. It is not bad at all if you know how to use it.

@wazmo
The demo is looking great! If you don't mind telling me, how did you get the notes to flow? Are they random, is there a chart hidden somewhere, or do they just repeat a certain pattern? I would really like to know. Thanks.

@lostsoul5673
I guess a credit screen would be best. That way we won't have to cram everyone's name on the title screen
laugh.gif
. I will make a revised title screen and the other menu components now. I will also make a fretboard background.

EDIT: It is hard to believe that no one has posted since I last did, but here goes. I didn't work on any of the menu yet (besides the already drawn title screen), but what I did do is pretty cool.
smile.gif
I completely revamped all of the in-game topscreen graphics, and came up with a cool new idea. I made two different fretboards for the game (one is standard black, the other is my rabbit logo
smile.gif
). I also gave all the the top screen sprites (gems and all button sprites) neat new shading effects to match the fretboard. As always there is a fake screen shot to let you all what it could look like in the game.

Now for my new idea for the game. I'm sure this won't be implemented until later, but I'll let you know what I'm thinking. In the folder where .txt charts are stored, there could also be a .bmp stored there too. The game could look for that file when it starts up and load it as the fretboard. Cool huh? Anyway, if wazmo puts this in I'll will make a tutorial to show everyone how to shade the boards the way I did.
