It freezes during the video at the end of the level: Super Mario Galaxy: Fate of the Universe.
It is a very long video. It freezes in the exact same spot every time. Tried 5 times !

This is the first time I've had a problem with my setup.
The hard drive is a Western Digital Elements USB drive - it's been very reliable.

When it freezes, the wii DVD light flashes, amongst a whole bunch of other things.
I did notice we had the DECA SPORTS DVD in the drive. But I believe it has frozen without the Deca Sports DVD in it. Regardless I took it out.

My setup specs: CFG, WII
- see here.

Things I have tried:

[1] I tried using CIOS 222 (via settings), but that didn't help.

Should I try Video Fix ? (it is an option in CFG).
Any other suggestions ?

Thanks to oggzee for the custom boot screen. My son loves it !

Waiting for 'insert'. What is format of hdd?

Curious...If you have a good dump, I wonder if that's an autosave point where it is freezing like Tintin and what has been termed 'metafortress' anti-piracy. First, you have to determine if others are having a similar problem.

Super Mario Galaxy doesn't have any anti-piracy stuff which would prevent usb loaders from playing the game. I played through it several times using CFG USB loader and didn't have any problems. It would be nice to know which cIOS the OP has installed. A syscheck log would really help to pin point the problem.

Your IOS249 is stubbed. I recommend you use ModMii to install 249d2x56 (and the other recommended IOS files) and try running it with that.

I'd prefer not to upgrade my CFG (if possible) as I have a custom boot screen.
I dont want to lose it !
If you care more about your custom boot screen than compatibility/efficiency, then that's your problem.

I was able to download 249d2x56
What is a good WAD manager ?
YAWM - I tried it ... doesn't seem to work. When I select an IOS I need to press "A" to continue ... but the "A" button doesnt work. :(

Follow the instructions generated by ModMii. YAWMM is the best.

I selected IOS 236 and was then able to load 249d2x56.

Unfortunately, it froze again :(

Must be a bad rip.

Does anyone know off hand, if I re-rerip it ... can I move the current saved games to the new rip ?
I've read you can for some games but not for others.

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking, but your saved game should automatically work no matter if it's a retail game, backup, or another backup.
