Who was the absolute first one to make the flashcard?
Who invented the whole thing, and worked it out the first?
(For the DS).

Was it the original R4 or something?

Just curious

At least not the R4 team, the first 'flashcarts' were actually passcards if I believe. I think the passme was first, but its just a quick guess. I don't know anything about passcards

I seem to recall SuperCard having a passcard pretty early that would let NDS ROMs boot off their GBA carts. I think I remember a lot of issues with it though--but my memory's foggy, and probably ill-drawn.

In 1984, Toshiba Fujio Masuoka, inventor of the company first proposed a fast flash memory (here referred to as flash memory) concept. Different from traditional computer memory, flash memory is characterized by a non-volatile (that is, the data stored on the host will not be lost after power off), the recording speed is very fast. Intel is the world's first production of flash memory and its market companies. In 1988, the company introduced a 256K bit memory chip

I think he's referring to game copier/flash carts and not generic flash carts. On that note flash carts have been around since the 80's I believe.
