Remember the "behind your back" thing? Here's another phrase that just doesn't do it for me. "Fits like a glove." It is a phrase I can never fully relate to... because I have never in my life been able to find a glove that fits. Granted, I never really tried that hard, other than trying on every pair of gloves I happen to come across while shopping, and I've never ever found a glove that fits the way the phrase implies. I can't relate to the phrase. Fitting the way a glove does, to me, has more of a negative implication than a positive one. Fits like a glove... meh "Fits like a proverbial legendary glove, a holy grail of gloves, one that actually fits."
Not to mention, if you take the entire number of gloves in production, and figure out how many of them actually fit you well, I would image the ratio is stunningly low. So for me, the phrase has no relevance anyway. I mean, come on, OJ's own gloves didn't even fit him. Sorry, it's just what comes to mind whenever I hear that phrase. Posts merged And oh yeah, veho, sorry to hear about your horribly disfigured hands.
You ever tried leather ones? Now those fit like a glove! Sadly you have to either female, a biker or a crossdresser to wear them.
