After installing, does the system menu still run trucha discs from disc channel (with modchip) ?
I have no modchip so I can't test it, but Waninoko's told me that this is a v4.0X WITH Trucha, so probably yes.

Also, disc channel loading won't work as the dip module will not be patched into the new systemmenu IOS60.
Well, that depends on the patching it does, but I don't think waninkoko has incorparated this.

yep, that's exactly the problem with Waninkoko applications.. he is not very found of documenting *exactly* what he did

He added Trucha bugs to the v4.0X IOS. That's what he said, that's what he did. No, he didn't make a v4.0 that run backups (At least, not yet), he just gave you a 'safe' v4.0X, that you can install WADs, cIOS and Downgrade for sure. That's Trucha...

OMG the update has been going on for like 20 minutes, this is taking forever.
And I find it odd that everything has been viewed twice... But thats probably the download and then the install

Edit: OK, it finished, and I installed preloader, but now, my system menu won't boot and only preloader will. Though I need to know if I should just go back to 3.2U or go to 4.0

Well, if you want to try System Menu 4.0, this is the safest way. IOS60 is Trucha-Patched, and that means you CAN install cIOS AFTER the update. In other words, even if you install v4.0X with this and didn't have a cIOS installed, you can install it after, meaning, you can then downgrade with Waninkoko's tools.
At least, that's what I got from Waninkoko.

--EDIT:--
I'm getting back to v3.2E now, but once cIOSCORP is updated then v4.0X will 'probably' be the new v3.2X. After all, it will have Trucha bugs, cIOSCORP and all the new features.

doesn't this need IOS249 to run ?
obviouly you already need a "signature bug free" IOS loaded for this application

well, I think it's still better to had a clear explanation text which says:" this program download *this* and will add *this and *this* patches to it "

It runs from the HBC and that doesn't rely on a cIOS. Or am I completely wrong on this ?

Probably. I have the most recent cIOS rev8 installed before hand so I don't really know. What I do know is this: If you uninstall cIOS with this v4.0X you can install it afterwards.
If you want to test it the safe way: before installing this uninstall the current cIOS and install rev7. After that, update and then run the rev8 installer. It will install, which means this v4.0 IOS are signature-less.

It would be useful, but then you would have noobs everywhere asking 'WTF does this mean?'. If you just say 'Hey, I added Trucha!', most noobs will be satisfied, and the features you added are documented. =)

OK, it finished, and I installed preloader, but now, my system menu won't boot because it is corrupted and only preloader will. Though I need to know if I should just go back to 3.2U or go to 4.0

Installing Preloader will corrupt some SysFiles. Don't do it.
If you like to boot games from the Disc Channer you should keep using v3.2X (And if you need a Brick-Proof Wii); if you want the new features and don't mind using channels to run your backups, just update to v4.0X (And no, you will NOT have a brick-proofed Wii.)
In my personal opinion, just use v3.2X (Best FW for Homebrew so far) and wait for some new updates for PreLoader, Starfall, cIOSCORP, etc. Then, with this new 'Trucha 4.0X' we will probably get a better FW than v3.2X

From preloader go to homebrew channel (press reset button and launch homebrew channel), downgrade your ios with "ios downgrader", after you return to 3.2e with "anyregionchanger".

Does Starfall work on this firmware?

That's all I need to know, I couldn't careless about anything else because I already have modchip installed.

So far, No.

Can you boot into HBC from the PreLoader menu ?

If so, you can either downgrade to 3.2 or run the installer for 4.0 again to fix the sysmenu.

Damn this looks good. I just want the CIOSCORP option for 4.0 With a starfall like system menu patch to disable disk update checks and a few other hacks. With that I would be happy as a fat kid with a million Cupcakes.

The firmware updater 4.0 will not repair the system menu, he must reinstall firmware 3.2U with anyregionchanger.
