Yeah. I'd also rather a full patch too. Even though i'm dying to play it. The team that's translating .hack//Link has been releasing partial patches for a year and i've resisted the urge to play it until it's done. And I want to play that game just as bad. How does the patching affect an already partialy patched game anyway? Would it corrupt your save data? Or would it patch just fine an infinite number of times as the patches come?

Don't release a partial unless the translation has come to a standstill and you can't find more people willing to work on it. Honestly, you shouldn't have even said you're considering it because now you'll have beggars like this blackfire hounding you to release a partial from now until whenever a release happens.

Just a hunch here, but I gotta feeling the patch will probably take closer to 2 years than 1 to complete. 1 year is if things go smoothly with a steady stream of progress. While that's entirely possible, it seems more optimistic than realistic. At some point new translators may be necessary, which will definitely impact the current 1 year ETA.

Even so, I'm fairly certain that most here prefer waiting for the full patch rather than having to deal with Japanese dialogue. If it were me, I'd only release a partial patch if the project had to end prematurely or were to be suspended for an extended period.

-We are researching a way to re-encode videos with absolutely no quality loss. We have had partial success creating new edited PMF's that are pixel perfect (but about 3x the original size, not a big problem now). Hoewer, once reinserted, these new PMF's don't really work as expected (even though they have been created using official tools).

hm, why not look for someone who can make a subtitle engine instead. Anyone who is good at assembly can do this.

wow. with .hack//Link, FF Type~0 and the newly announced Tales of Phantasia NDX english patch projects all coming from teams who i know get results, my psp's gonna be one happy camper! Throw in Star Ocean Blue Sphere on an emulator around a year from now too and psp is still better than Vita.

You know, I had stopped watching that project for a year and then I stumbled onto this yesterday. So almost 1 year ago, it was 60% done. The guy just hardly ever updates. But he IS still doing it.

sky can you please upload the partially translated core text because I will pay translator here in our country to translate the stuff.

You have no idea how much we've talked about this message in the team's skype group lol.
You see, the team needs help, yeah, but we still want to keep this a 100% fan project. We've concluded that we need to translate 4000 lines per month (1000 per week) to have a summer release window. However, we don't usually reach this quota, so the project keeps getting longer and longer....

So the resolution was to try this month again, if by the end of November we haven't reached 4000 lines from now, we'll consider your offer ;)

Thank you very much:

~Sky

Hey fans we translators and members of this translation team want this game to be done as bad as you do. You are all more capable at translating Japanese than you may think. Sky has allowed us to prove ourselves this month, but we need your help. Contact me at [email protected] and I will train you and give you a small part. If enough of you do a little bit each week, we can reach our goal :)

If 20 of you fans joined us and translated 3 lines a day or 21 lines a week, that would be 420 lines a week. If that had been the case this week, we would have completed 936 lines. Projecting completion at 6 months. Think about it, you would be amazed at how capable you all are. Contact me, I'll be available to help you with translation questions.

If my right hand wasn't broken and typing wasn't such a chore now, i'd so take you up on that. But I did do a facebook post of your message on my Type Zero page to spread the word. Hope that helps.

I wish you had stated that over the summer. I had so much free time then. I would have thought some knowledge of Japanese would be needed to help though.
