Hacking Few noob questions about r4i

okay so i just bought a ds lite with an R4i gold SDHC, the box has the website

http://www.r4i.ndsi.in

now when i run the card it shows me 1.41 on the bottom right of the screen, i don't know what that means.

can someone help me in upgrading this thing to the latest firmware with a guide? i am really a huge noob when it comes to this stuff i want to know that what is the game compatibility as well

You don't need to worry about the 1.4.1 since you don't have a dsi. The 1.4.1 is the firmware of the dsi that blocks the card. And I recomend you to try and install WOOD r4 ( just google it)

You have a few options here

1) You can try using Wood R4

2) If wood R4 doesn't work download the firmware from the website in your post and copy all the files in the rar package onto the root of your sd card.

It's easy to follow and will improve the game compatibility helluvalot.

If it doesn't work, download the latest kernel for your cart from here: http://www.r4i.ndsi.in/download/V2.2/R4GOLDv2.2_EN.rar
It was updated on 11-02-09 so it should support all games. Check http://www.r4i.ndsi.in/downloads.htm regularly for updates.

i just copied all the kernel 2.2 files from the archive to the root of my USB and now all i am getting is a white screen ... =S wtf?

ill try installing wood

EDIT: the _SYSTEM_ MOONSHL folders refuse to stay on my SD card even though i have copied them a 1000 times =S the folder on left is on my desktop and has the v2.2 files and the folder on right is my sd card for my ds ... wtf is going on =S i have tried copying it a 1000 times and the 2 folders NEVER come on the sd card... any help?

wood does not work on your R4i

your best bet is to use the official kernel
or maybe you can try retro's updates and see if it'll work

Try formatting your micro sd with SD Formatter. After that, place a fresh copy of the extracted 2.2 kernel on your micro SD, nothing else and try running it again. Also, tell me the folders/files that are present on the root.

i just formatted my card with sd formatter and copied the kernel files, its still showing me a white screen ... =S wtf? even though the files and folder are there right now

edit: the kernel files are in the root and i even put moonshell 2.1 and update 1.41 in the root (Extracted OFCOURSE) in the root my card and still NOTHING =\ ... wtf is going on

not working either -____- i'll just go back to the store tomorrow and take the latest firmwares with me on USB and make sure it runs =@!
