Hacking Fake AK2i @ DX -- where to buy cheap REAL ones...

So, I just received my order of AK2i from DX -- and yes, they are fake

HWID: 8181 (or was it 1818)

Anyway, I am looking for a CHEAP place that has REAL (Genuine) Acekard2i cards...

Anyone know one?

I got my Acekard 2i from Ebuylife .
I think it is a real one,because it works very well.
You can try to buy it from there.

I finally received my new A-data class 6 8GB Microsd card from Meritline, $18.99 I would highly recommend it. I took my Acekard2i from DealExtreme and put the standard update file on it and it had the HWID: 8181 and it progressed from 0 to 100% with no problems at all. So I dont know if these cards are fake or not but they work perfect.

What makes you say this card is a clone ? Did you disassemble it ? Did you check with Acekard manufacturer ?
Over the past year I ordered 7 AK2i from DX and they are all HWID 8181 and they look exactly the same. The first ones upgrade normally and the very last ones need to be upgraded using the R4 software as I posted.
I don't think HWID is a reliable way to tell a card is genuine or not...

I got a new AK2i from on like Jan 18 (I ordered on Nov.28) and its real. It replaced the old AK2i quite well and its from DealExtreme.

I recently bought an AK2i for a friend, which just arrived last week from DX. It's 8181, and updated to the 1.4 version just fine on my old DSL. It runs fine on my DSi. If it's fake, I'm not sure what the point is.

I heard from Acekard supplier that Acekard is having internal issues.

They currently have two versions out there

One version with chip outside which works fine,but the claimed the version is a fake one.

The other version is like the original one, but can not be upgraded to 1.4 compatible.

So, if the one with the chip is fake one, then they do not have an authentic ones that work.

The one with chip outside works like an authentic one. It is 1.4 compatible and works with AKAIO.

However, Acekard is saying they are fake

So, don't buy a Acekard 2i until they can sort it out.

That sounds strange. I ordered four 2i cards and three of them worked with the official updater while the fourth required the R4i updater.
The name R4 sells still

, I wonder if Acekard as a company lets different batches out to be bundled as a R4. Makes sense.

Well, if you acctually take a look at www.acekard.com/news.php and read their News section, you will se that there is a claimed clone.

My old AK2i had a chip sticking out and the new one doesn't. They both updated fine. The new one runs AKAIO which means it's real.

Got mine some days ago from DX and it's a legit one.

No window in the front, non-modded AKAIO 1.5.1 running very well and updating with the offical 1.4 update worked also perfectly.
