This version is highly unstable and shouldn't be used unless you're participating in testing it, you shouldn't be using it if you're not okay with the possibility of bricking the cart.

That doesn't mean I want to brick the cart, you know. Or that I don't want to fix it.

Yup and that's normal, nobody wants to brick their things normally aha.
You can just keep power cycling and resetting til you eventually load into the menu, but sometimes even after you load the menu it'll still crash, or even after you load the firmware flasher file it can crash - basically it's just bad days all around for getting it consistent again, but turning it off and back on repeatedly does eventually work

I tried this firmware and now my cart won't boot at all! After OSINIT, it either hangs or boots to a blank screen. I can't even restore the old firmware. How do I fix this?

Try to format a blank SD card with FAT32/ 32KB rule. then copy only kernel file on it. boot it and see what happen

Thank you for your quick reply. Unfortunately it doesn't seemed to have worked. I have tested the FW with some games and a SGB test ROM and none of the SGB commands are responding, meaning the header that gets transferred between the internal GB and the SNES doesn't contain $03 at $146. There seems to be another header that is present before the modified one.

I just got EZ-Flash Jr. tonight and immediately tried to patch the OS for SGB support. But then I saw the BOOTLOADER program which loads the OS... I hope it's possible to update the bootloader by software too...
Also, two bytes in the bootloader program's header need to be changed for SGB functions:
$0146 -> $03
and
$014B -> $33
(and update checksum of course)

Same thing. It boots to a white screen, a black screen, or it hangs.
told you, the only way to fix it is to keep trying... It can take a long time to eventually get it working again. The latest update is indeed SUPER broken

Took me 30+ tries to get it working. If you turn it on and it boots to the menu try waiting at the menu without touching anything for 1-2 minutes THEN launch the FW updater. I've had better luck waiting before launching the FW updater.

In dozens of tries I've never gotten any readable output after OSINIT.

I tested the RTC3 firmware myself, and all versions of the kernel files booted properly
My suggestion: replace the SD card, or get another version of the kernel, like 1.04e final, or 1.05RC at #405.

You'd better re-download the file, as I'm concerned that your existing file may be CRC corrupted!

I can assure you that my SD card is fine; I've reformatted it and tested the files several times myself. The SHA-1 hash of my EZGB.DAT file is ce1d53168e586dad36568a317947941f0f3a134f.

You can try another kernel. even more older official release.

After all, we're trying to fix it, right? It never hurts to try.

The firmware is tested by us before it is uploaded, but we really don't know why you are having this particular problem.

Absolutely, the goal is to get this working :P
Link me to the kernel you want me to try? Or even better, upload the files and I'll copy them to the SD in the order you specify.

I have the same problem, ez-flash is dead after of flasher the rtc3 patch :hateit:

I am tried run the system with only firmware 4 .gb and 1.04e files in the sdcard, but nothing, not work, or white screen or black screen.

Any way for reflash the cartrige way jtag?

you can look the above post

or try to remove the battery on the card. it will clean up the sram and the RTC, maybe help.

Works great with my backlit / biverted original gamboy (DMG-01) with clean power board.
