Hacking External HDD via USb

i read how the current drivers for usb on the wii are 1.1 so i was wondering if the mplayer (or any media player) supports an external harddrive via usb?

I thought mplayer supported it... but I could be wrong. It's been a while.

added fix for PAL widescreen users (set the correct setting in mplayerwii.conf)
much faster USB reading speed (huge thanks to rodries)

USB files that wouldn't work for me with the previous version now do and they do pretty well. Also the chapter search option works which is plus over geexbox which I can only pause and not skip ahead or back.

this isnt the version that supports reading dvd discs, correct?

Correct, this version is only for video files from sd/usb.

Does GeexBox support DVD playback? Haven't read too much into the new libdi and DVDX files. Didn't mean to hijack the thread also.
