Okay. I have started my EV training, and I need to know a few things. First, how can I actually max out an EV? I mean, training....training... I have a LV 54 Rhyperior, and that makes me think about all the EV's that it had gained before I started training? How do I know? (I'm not using PokeSav, so don't mention that). Also, do EV's stick? As in, do they stay after each level? My guess is yes, but... I just wanted to know.

I'm really sorry because you guys have probably already had a million of these... but... :/

Yes, but it's just that it doesn't really answer my questions... It just tells me good ways of getting the EV's themselves.

    Any help at all?

Oh yeah, 400th post FTW! Too bad it's not really that interesting... Wait.

Okay... I have to resort to double-posting.

Any support, or even at least a decent thought?

Hm I don't really understand your questions but I'll try. I think your just confused on how the whole EV thing works.

"First, how can I actually max out an EV?"

You max out a especific EV by gaining 255 EV points on that especific stat. You cannot have more than 255 EV points on the same stat. Also, overall, you cannot have more than 510 EVs. Thats 510 EVs to distribute as you want, being that each stat can have a max of 255. (I hope im remembering the numbers right)

"I have a LV 54 Rhyperior, and that makes me think about all the EV's that it had gained before I started training?"

Probably. I mean, almost certain. Every pokemon he killed to get to lv54 gave him EVs, he probably has alredy adquired 510 EVs.

    "How do I know?"

Action Replay codes. Playing HG/SS? Check the latest cheat code compilation at gbatemp.

"Also, do EV's stick? As in, do they stay after each level?"

EVs dont care about your level. When you kill a pokemon, you gain EVs (the EVs you gain depend on the pokemon). Those EVs stay there whatever happens. They dont immediatly give a stat boost though. I'm not sure how the math behind it works, but I think the more you level up the more the EV points you gathered on one stat start showing signs of boosting that stat. Think about it this way: the higher the level of the pokemon the more the EVs reveal themselves in the stats they were put in.

If any of these answers only gives you more questions, go ahead. If you want to do your own research sites like Serebii and Smogon are great to learn.

Okay... Thanks. I really just needed to know those answers. I already know a bit of EV work through and through, so...

There are berries that reduce EVs if you screw up with your EV training.

    Pomeg Berry: Subtracts HP EVs
    Kelpsy Berry: Subtracts Attack EVs
    Qualot Berry: Subtracts Defense EVs
Hondew Berry: Subtracts Special Attack EVs
Grepa Berry: Subtracts Special Defense EVs
    Tamato Berry: Subtracts Speed EVs

Feeding a Pokemon a single Berry of this type will lower the stat’s EVs down to 100, no matter how many EVs were in the stat. If the EVs are at 100 or below, every use of the Berry will subtract 10 EVs until all the EVs have been removed from the stat. Avid Pokemon Trainers may find it handy to grow a decent supply of these Berries in case they screw up an EV spread.
