Can anyone tell me where are the files that when you format emunand,(gateway menu) it appears?

Reason: I want a new emunand and i dont know what files to delete so i can make a new one on my 3ds sd card. I just dont want the old emunand files on my sd card.

Did you unlink your emunand? You will get a new ID in your "Nintendo 3DS" folder on your SD Card. If you create a second emuNAND and unlink it again, you will get a new ID again.

I dont think i did... all i did is back up the old 3ds sd card, format the old and new sd card, and put the files from the back up in the new sd card.

would be better ;)
The EmuNAND copy of your SysNAND have the same ID, if you format it, it will get a new ID.
Different Emunands = Different IDs in the "Nintendo 3DS" folder
So if i unlink emunand, will it delete the old emunand files? Or do i have to delete them manually?

Ok.. but wheres the files of the OLD emunand on the 3ds sd card, (the first one) i want to delete them.
Keep in mind that if your EmuNAND was linked, the files used by EmuNAND are shared with SysNAND (The point of unlinking is to make both NANDs use different files in the SD), if you delete the Nintendo 3DS folder you will also lose the data that your SysNAND uses (If you use menuhax, deleting the folder will uninstall it).

Then how would i know if my sysnand and my emunand is linked...

Ok this is what i got in mind:
Method 1:
Delete nintendo 3ds file.
Format sysnand on 3ds.
Make a new emunand.
And put menuhax again.

Method 2:
Format sysnand on 3ds.
Make a new emunand.
Comparing with the back up i made, ill delete the old file with the bunch of letters and numbers, and ill keep the new folder.

Or give me your way to do this.

@Merrx
Yeah, they are linked.

Yeah, they are linked.
So you only have one random number folder inside of your "Nintendo 3DS" folder on your SD card?
If more, then change the theme and look for changes in the last change date on your SD card, so you should trace back, which is the one currently in use.

Unlinking NANDs (short)
Then your should use TinyFormat on either emunand or sysnand and they will be unlinked.
I recommend emunand.
You have to start Homebrew in emunand and then use tinyformat, then do the first-time setup.
Afterwards check if your nands are unlinked, by changing the themes.

Can I ask why you want to create a new EmuNAND? You really don't need to delete the old Emunand files since they are being used with Sysnand, if you want to clean up space you can go to sd:/Nintendo 3DS/<id0>/<id1>/ and delete everything except for the extdata folder (Which stores the Menuhax files, along with extra data of games you have played). Then format your Emunand (Thus un-linking it).

I got a faster sd card for my 3ds and i want to move it. The old sd was a fake/broken.

Btw i might try doing your way.

I see... It's possible to move Emunand between SDs with EmunandTool9, but if your old SD is really a fake or is broken it might be safe to just set everything from scratch.

Which nand have you mostly used?
Are there things on (the old) emunand you want to keep?

I don't see the point in using Method 1, if you start from the beginning of setting up an emunand (for the new card).
You can keep your nintendo 3ds folder (which is used by sysnand) and don't need to format your sysnand.
Just simply use the EmunandTool9 tool to create a new emunand on the new sd card.
Then you just have to unlink the new emunand from your sysnand.
Use TinyFormat for the unlinking, since it only formats settings and leaves the sd card untouched.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
