i only have the nand dump, i don't have the console here anymore, so i was wondering if it was possible to extract wads from the dump instead of the live environment (the wii itself)

Up to now, there's no nand.bin parser. So we are not yet able to extract the files of the dump. If we could, we could WAD Wiiware and VC games from the *.bin.

if wiiware dumping can be done directly from the wii, what's preventing us from doing such thing from the bin?

QUOTE(Screemer @ May 26 2009, 11:08 AM) decrypt the nand dump with your wiis keys, find all titles which belong to the wad you want to pack, pack the wad with your wiis keys.

is there a tool allowing me to do such thing?

can i eventually trucha sign them instead of using my wii keys?

On the Wii we have files and directories (in a way). The nand.bin is just a dump and contains all those files and dir's in one file.
Getting clearer now?

also a bitstream image of an HD is a single file, but if you mount it you can read the content, you need to know the filesystem strucutre.
if it's known i don't see any problem in "mounting" the bin to access the filesystem in a logical manner.

you'll need to make a nand dump out of your nand with waninkoko's nand dumper and then use tf wad packed to compile the wads out of your dump

wich is the difference between a dump made with waninkoko nand dumper ant the one taken with bootmii?

Waninkoko's Dumper dumps all the folders. So you get something like this:

Code:
SD:/
|- WII_FS
ÂÂÂÂ |- IMPORT
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ|- ...
ÂÂÂÂ |- META
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ|- ...
ÂÂÂÂ |- SHARED1
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ|- ...
ÂÂÂÂ |- SHARED2
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ|- EC
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ|- MENU
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ|- SUCCESSI
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ|- SYS
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ|- TEST
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ|- TEST2
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ|- ...
ÂÂÂÂ |- SYS
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ|- ...
ÂÂÂÂ |- TICKET
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ|- ...
ÂÂÂÂ |- TITLE
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ|- ...
ÂÂÂÂ |- TMP
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ|- ...

So those files aren't encrypted.

has anyone tried to use the NAND dumped from their wii with dolphin emulator?

i take it that the emulator doesnt actually need a NAND so it wont be able to use one. but my thought was:

use the NAND from your wii with all the wiiware/ VC on dolphin.
get homebrew on it, (if possible(in fact, this would be a FAR safer test environment for apps!))
use wad creator to extract the wads of the games you want

but of course, since i have no idea how dolphin works, i have no idea what i'm talking about
