Sure, it looks a bit ridiculous, but it's an interesting direction for the controller to go. Since I'm expected to make a pun, you might even say it's ballsy.

Wow. You had the balls to make that comment...

Seriously though, I don't think I'd mind the modular design as much as I'd mind the two huge balls that would be in my way at all times... unless those too were some kind of a removable module... but, I digress. :P

Yeah, people need to stop busting Sony balls.

Well, we know what the PlayStation 4 controller is going to be. 12-axis! :P
Move's axis + DualShock's axis = 12 axis

It seem like I wasn't that far off.

Did Sony lose some kind of bet to make this? Or were they just drunk?

The last time they messed with the design, they were met with a criticism tsunami - remember the boomerang? Not long after it was first spotted, they returned right back to the tried-and-true design, and good for them.
I feel like the only person on earth who actually liked the original PS3 controller design and wanted them to keep it...

Like it'd be a pretty awesome design if it wasn't for those two fucking stupid balls at the front.

I know Sony keeps saying "The balls have a purpose!" but they look fucking stupid. Make R&D come up with something a bit better looking.

I realised today that there's also a PlayStation Move Racing Wheel, and it looks like this:

So, uh...um.

The features Most Wanted gives it is a nice idea though; green for normal cruising, red and blue for cop chase and solid blue for Cooldown.

Still not getting it though.

It looks like Sony is going for shock and bawl on this one. I can totally see someone doing a sort of montage with this controller to the theme of Team Rocket.

At least it has all the controls were they're supposed to be. Then again, so does the standard SIXAXIS or Dual Shock 3 controller which can do the exact same thing, so... :P

I think Sony should realize 2 things:

-If you want to do motion gameing you have to ship the console with it... otherwise it will be a peripheral.
-The DS is a very outdated controller ergonomically and compared with the 360 controller simplay horrible... it is not acceptable that there nearly hasn't been any changes to its formfactor in soooo many years. Don't do a boomarang but something like MS did, since those guys just redefined what was already there from the DC controller.

So let's see what they'll do for PS4 and if they adress these issues I personally think they have with the DS.

This could be a good idea but its success is very depended on its execution.

In my opinion nothing can look as stupid as this montrosity

I spotted it in a PS3 advert and my brain went "WHO THE HELL DESIGNED THAT THING? Its big, its bulky and its unnecessary.

Still interesting idea that they'll probably never implement. Doesn't look all that practical.

Edit: GODDAMMIT NINJA'D! Damn you @ProtoKun7
