Just two different methods of charging, ps5 dualsense controller also have a charging cradle port and an usb c port.

Some people prefer charging cradle, instead of plugging in a micro usb with a 5v wall outlet. It is based on people preference.

I always leave the wireless recharger on and play, and the dualshock 4 never runs out of power
My guess is that the ps6's dualsense 2 will have this technology
