I'm new to this whole Linux thing, and I decided to tryout Ubuntu.

The thing is, I never tried Dual Booting before, and I only found Dual Booting Tutorials for 2 different HDDs,
and I only have 1HDD(200GB),

What I want to know is if there's a way off having WindowsXP and Ubuntu installed in the same hard drive?(without having to reinstall Windos)

Thanks in advance.

Yes, it is possible.

First of all, burn yourself a live CD (download Ubuntu 7.10 and burn the image onto a disk). Next, partition your hard disk (minimum is 5GB if I'm not wrong, dont forget to partition it once more for swap space although it is not necessary)

Second of all, run the live CD. To do that, restart your PC. Enter your BIOS by pressing the delete key while your computer is booting up, and configure it to boot the CD before booting your hard disk.

Once that's done, the live CD will load (it'll take awhile) and Ubuntu will load. There will be an "Install" icon on the Ubuntu desktop. Click on it, and everything else will be explained on the installation.

When you boot your PC after installing Ubuntu, you'll be taken into a menu where you can select which OS you wish to boot (Windows XP or Ubuntu). Thats how you dual boot.

Of course, I got all this from a tutorial. Please correct me if I'm wrong and all the best in installing it

Note:
It is not necessary to partition your hard disk in Windows. You can do it during the Ubuntu installation. And just in case you don't know, partitioning your hard disk is like.. breaking it up into compartments

I don't think the partitioner in Ubuntu lets you resize partitions, as your Windows installation is likely on a large partition taking up most of your disk space. I used a free application called gParted to resize my Windows partition before installing Ubuntu.

Well do like this:

First split your harddrive up "Could be done when you are in the Live CD"

Second: Install XP
Third: Install Ubuntu (NOT ON XP PARTION!!!!)
Forth: ENJOY Your new dualboot!
