DSwiki v0.2
Bookmark Feature Added
wikipedia.jpg
dsWiki is an offline Wikipedia page viewer for the Nintendo DS, coded by Ollipolli.
In this version, a new bookmark feature has been added.

Changelog said:
The long awaited bookmarks in an early version. They can be added and loaded, but not edited in DSwiki itself. But the bookmarks will be saved in a plain text file, so edit it as you like! (a must-have, but nonetheless, suggested by Sphere)
I got rid of most remaining ASCII-text-output and replaced it by a better looking dialog interface.
The display can be inverted (suggested by Sphere). Activate the option menu with "Start" or the left icon. The search looks ugly then, but that doesn't affect usability.
The search can be reached with an icon in the main window

Apparently, the entire English Wikipedia fits inside 4GB (compressed).
Can the this reader read from compressed files though? I'm wondering what capacity of card I'll need to use this.

This would be the most amazing thing to have in transit though.

Instead of a wikipedia viewer, it should be an universal mediawiki viewer, they're all the same.
The iPodLinux one was universal, what's stopping this one from being that?

Looks really promising :-)

Hmmm, will the wikipedia dumps contain pictures in the future? I guess this would boost size up 10x or more, even if we scale pictures down?
But It would be really nice, maybe just scale them to icon size then (like 64x64)

Anyway, looking forward to each release :-)

I think it'd inflate it by more than just one order of magnitude.

You are probably right :-/
If wikipedia would/could just safe data about importance of content like pictures.. some are important to explain something (some diagrams), some are just additional information. So we could strip the additional stuff which make (just a pure guess) maybe 80% (?) of the wikipedia images.
Another important step for me, would be parsing of the LaTeX math formulas and converting them into a readable form.
Anyway, so far no real "parsing" is done, so this probably comes when everything of the more "lowlevel" parts work reliable...
If I had time I'd ask the author if I could help him ....
