Hacking DSTwo Versions

How do I go about knowing what version Im currently at with the DSTwo, both firmware and OS?

I did replace some files by going to the DSTwo website to replace several files under dstwo folder with the latest 1.17 and then went to patch it by overwriting two files which was released in June and then loaded it with the latest dstwoupdate.dat file which loaded up and the update ran when I inserted it into the 3DS.

I hope I did this right. I just need to know how to make sure?

You can't make sure which OS or firmware you currently have. You can just keep it in mind after you have updated it.

Yes, it should be right but what do you want to do? Do you want to upgrade your 3DS firmware?
