It's only permanent until you get a Raspberry Pi, MicroSD Adapter, and 4 wires.
1) Why a Raspberry Pi? Can't you do a NAND backup / restore with Windows, OS X and Linux too?
2) If you don't have a backup of your NAND before the brick, I'm pretty sure you can't do anything about it. Except if you use the raspberry, the Micro SD adapter and the wires to invoke some kind of weird creature. Not the most common solution, but worked fine for me.
