I'm curious on this one,

Would using a flash card in both slot 1 and 2 of a DSLite cause battery rape?

The combo I mean is DSTT and a EZ-Flash IV (Normal Fatty not one of those 3 in 1's)
Not that its an issue to me ether way but I wondered if anyone tried a similar combo?

I think the DS powers both slots if there is something inside whether you use it or not.

So remove the EZ IV if you want better battery life.

Aye I found the EZ IV to drain a third faster than a normal GBA cart, but wasn't sure if the DS puts Slot 2 to sleep unless in use (which would make sense from a power saving point of view)

Well DS games can read what's in the GBA slot (pokemon imports/region stuff, some megaman games unlock extras, etc.), so it's gotta' be powered.

Aye true bit I was wondering if it was put in sleep unless software calls waked to check slot 2 like say... erm Mario 64 DS would sleep it as its un-needed but Pokemon would wake Slot 2 if you went to the correct NPC to try and transport from a GBA Game and sleep it after

Yeah just having an EZ4 on added about 20% to the current draw (some 25 millamps) compared to an official cart- you can not quite assume a drop of 20% for it as battery chemistry is odd but that would still be the ballpark (your 30% is well within reason).

Sleep mode is invariably far higher with flash carts and having something in the GBA slot is worse.

Aye I got a few other units like a Micro or a SP I can use the flash cart in also but it was curious to me and it seems to be about right as the battery sucked harder than Shaq-Fu with em both in so I put the blank back in for now hehe

I am also curious about this, I bought a EZ-Flash IV and it seems to drain a lot of my DS Lite's battery, I recharged it 2 times today and I never recharged it 2 times on the same day, and I was ALWAYS playing DS games on DSTT.

Try a normal GBA cart in the slot as well to see if it's the EZ, or having a cart at all.

It's the EZ4 doing it.

The DS is having to power 2 flash carts with 2 memory cards switch to a normal ds cart when playing the EZ4 that seems to help me at least though I also have the EZ 3in1 which Is what I use on the DS and the EZ4 for my Advance/Advance SP

When I play Pokemon Emerald (real cartridge) on the DS lite it can last up to 8 hours playing non stop with brightness on high, but with the EZ-Flash IV it barely lasts 5 hours.

And no, there's no cartridge on the SLOT-1 of the DS Lite (Top screen ribbon is broken therefore the DS does not boot, suprisingly enough it boots GBA games with the touch screen)

Yea its normal you get less battery life with the EZ4, Its due to all the extra hardware the EZ4 has and a MiniSD on top to also power

You think 8 to 5 is bad on a DSLite :P Try a Micro goes from 5 to about 2 and a half
