Hi, that fixed it, it is a little buggy though, when scrolling left and right the reflections on some of the game carts become solid rather than transparent and at one point they were different, also after scrolling with the stylus and then using the d-pad the selected game wasn't central on the screen until i dragged it slighly with the stylus again, can't do much testing because my lads want their DS's.
Boots now in 0~1 seconds. Menu is really faster than before.
Thank you for adding stylus scrolling.

I was thinking of going with [forgot who mentioned it]'s idea, and setting the menu to a button, rather than the stylus. Also maybe using 'Select' to access the settings screen. Thats a little way off, n00bey is working on a new feature (sort of) which I think some people will like if he gets it working.

Well, the main reason I don't like it is because you have to use the stylus. I really think you should be making any kind of menus that you can't just use with your finger.

QUOTE(a2h @ Jan 26 2009, 05:36 PM) You know...

Splash screens are a bit unnecessary for menus.

I don't mind the splash screen, but I do mind the fact that you have to press a button to make it go away. It should fade after a second or two.

Well, what about that: if you hold one of the shoulder buttons + stylus tap on an icon it will open the file-menu ?
Because when youre holding the DS in one and the stylus in the other hand it is easy to hold one of the shoulder buttons.

Ok, I have had another play with this and on load type 2 and 3 if you scroll past a lot of games and then let the visible game icons load the non visible icons still do not load during inactivity so if you scroll forwards or back you get the DS icon until they load, load type 2 seems unresponsive when you first browse but once you go through the list once it is ok.

The games will not load using a 4gb SDHC card but they will by just using YSMENU or DSision with a 2gb card? any ideas if I am doing something wrong?

Stylus menu is a little tricky, as someone else suggested maybe the select button would be more intuitive.

The menu can also look a bit glitchy when it pops up sometimes, like part of it is being drawn in the background.

I think thats all for now

but i will let you know if I find anything else.

Keep up the good work and thankyou

The card shouldnt matter, it just needs ysmenu to be set up properly x/
sure ysmenu.nds is in the root of the card :/ ?

@ "load type 2 seems unresponsive when you first browse" , well, I already said it over 100 times, thats the price for faster switching to a folder... It's a lag that cannot be removed without having temporary files, which would mean massive writings to the card x/ Maybe we will code a caching system for commercial rom-data, but we still will have to discuss about that x/

I'm not critisising just giving feedback of my findings

the same file layout works on a 2gb sd card and I'm sure someone on a previous post had the sam problem, I tested thesame card with ysmenu and that worked fine?

Well yes, but not having to slide the stupid, useless, stylus out of the bottom of my ds and simply using a button or my finger is even easier.

tried to set it up from scratch again, got ysmenu working ok then added files from latest DSision2 zip, menu loads up but when i try to load a game nothing, butthis time both screens did not go blank they jut paused for a second and then i was still in the menu screen, this is from YSMENU.ini

AUTO_BOOT=games/ben 10.nds/ben 10.nds/ben 10.ndsgames/aquarium by ds.nds/aquarium by ds.nds/cooking mama 2.nds/cooking mama 2.nds/super mario 64 ds.nds/super mario 64 ds.nds/super mario 64 ds.nds

No idea what to tell you there, I'm using the latest build myself and it works fine. I hate when things like this happen.

So are you using an SDHC memory card with no problems? or are you using a low capacity 1 or 2 gig card, I don't have a problem on a standard 2 gig card!!

BTW... for anyone else who's making a skin and using photoshop.... I mentioned a few days ago I was having issues with the transparent color and have determined the issue. For some reason re-sizing a full-color image in PS effects the dithering and ruins the magenta color. The solution is fairly simple:

1. Work with the image in full color editing it to your liking and adding the magenta background color.
2. After you are COMPLETELY DONE change the "mode" to 8bit and PS will automatically generate a proper pallette.
3. Now you can resize to the 64x64 pixel image. The image won't get re-sampled like it usually does, but with the small pixel size we are working with, this is a good thing.

Not really related, but I thought I would share.

remove the Auto_Boot line and replace it with "AUTO_BOOT=" and try again.

*Note* if the boot fails, You have to fix the AUTO_BOOT line again, because it's not erased again. This is probably the problem because you can only boot one game at a time

i hope it is not overly presumptuous of me to suggest a feature/option, if it is i apologize, but if not, here goes:

Please add checkbox option to settings screen to allow "Run all NDS through YSMenu".

for me, this would allow homebrew that needs DLDI patching to work correctly, as i was recently informed that Dsission2 does no DLDI patching at all when it runs homebrew games.

also, Disission2 awesome, very nicely designed, wonderful alternative to KioskDS (currently using both because they are both so damned purdy), thank you for releasing it.

Actually DSision2 does atempt dldi patching. It seems though that with some builds running on some cards, it fails. I have no idea what is causing this problem, but the fact that ysmenu is able to load the roms, means that it doesn't always fail (ysmenu needs to be dldi patched). We have no idea why this happens yet. But it is a good idea.

Yeah I was about to say, ysmenu doesn't even work on some cards if you don't get a pre-patched build. So I would guess that the patching is just as unsuccessful on ysmenu, it's just that app has already been patched so it doesn't matter. I second the idea of the option to run everything through ysmenu.... it doesn't make any sense for you to waste your time writing code for patching and loading files when you already have the ability to run ysmenu, which does a great job of it.

Also... something that is a bit of an annoyance that you might be able to fix. It would be nice if you would allow the option of erasing the autoboot entry to ysmenu.ini upon startup of dsision. If you have to go into ysmenu for some reason (like cheats) the last autoboot entry is still there and you have to hold down B to keep the game from loading.
