Hello,

So the problem is : I bought a japanese DsiXL and then I wondered if there was a way to change the language by hacking it or whatever.

Yeah I know, that's stupid, but some games work in US when they're EU or US version, but some even if they're EU or US version they still play in Japanese...

So I would like to know if there's something that will able me to play those EU or US games in english ?

Thank you for your answers.

Hacking on DSi is not possible - would not hurt to - erm - I dunno, SEARCH or READ on internet about that.

But, to be straight; No - it cannot be hacked nor made into english in any way - it is completely Locked to region.

Thank you for your fast reply.
Too bad, that's a shame you can't play a EU game in EU languages >.

AA - Well THAT is possible (I mean - EU games of Normal DS in DSi LL)

THOSE should be english, it is not the firmware that decides the language.

But the firmware cannot be changed.

Wait, a UK DSi isn't the same as a German one? I thought all European ones were the same..

Well:
The roms include their language - and they do not get magically translated by firmware on fly (just read that sentence and You know that is stupid)

The firmware decides the language in some cases with EU games (Since EU releases are multi language many times) But if the games do not include the language (say, EU game does not include Japanese for sure) they will go to default English.

Also, Germany is in europe... If the game has no german language, you need to patch it yourself, just get into translating! - or if it has A choice, pick "german" and neither is good for you - be happy with english.

the only difference is the language preselect in the firmware i think

there are some games that pick the language by looking at what language the ds is

@JereTHEend: i mean if its a EU game and it has germany language included but preselects english as default, is there a way by patching the rom or something to get the german language?

Unless the Game has no way to change the option manually nor the EU DSi have a language option (and it actually should have somewhere in options...)
